It turns out a lot of people saw through Rudy's crap in the last debate and Ron Paul is seriously gaining momentum.

Bill Maher just had him as a guest on his show again and let him speak a while about foreign policy. Paul had just returned from New York... he gave Rudy a reading list about foreign policy.

The Maher crowd loved Ron Paul.... this is from liberal dems! It was amazing!

I hate to get my hopes up, but man, it could really happen. Enough dems and repubs could vote for him to put him in office, and this country back on the right track. I didn't think he stood a chance before, but now I'm gettin jazzed about it.

Some liberals like him. I talked to a lib who might vote for him. He said he disagreed with most of Dr. Paul's other policies but was impressed by his honesty. Also the lib (who wants socialized healthcare, which I'm against) said he was aware that if any of the dems get elected we wouldn't be able to afford universal healthcare because of all the other spending and that Ron Paul would scale spending back where it could be discussed honestly.

    A glimmer of hope.

Call me a pessimist, if you will! I remember a certain "glimmer of hope" that made a "big sucking sound" several years ago, and that gave us 8 years of Bill Clinton! Ross Perot/Ron Paul....same initials!

What will we get if Ron Paul DOESN'T become the Republican nominee, and there are masses of folks who become "disgruntled", perhaps to the point of not voting? Why, I've even heard some CONSERVATIVES say that they would vote for Hillary Clinton...."To teach the Republican Party a LESSON!"

Sorry, but I've already heard ONE "sucking sound", and it SUCKED! Why, it also gave us the "sucking sound" that took place in the Oral.....er, I mean OVAL office!

I'll continue to be OPTIMISTIC, and wait for ALL of the candidates to toss their hats into the fray! If Ron Paul wins the nomination, fine! If he doesn't, I'll still VOTE...and NOT to "teach" someone a lesson!
Lest we forget, EVERY vote counts! The Democrats learned that "lesson" quite well, which is why they attempted to have all of the military votes invalidated in 2000 and 2004! Yep, even "chad" and "dimple" votes counted.....and were RE-counted! Somehow, even DECEASED folks supposedly voted in Chicago....and they were counted! You can't blame THAT on Bush, for he LOST in Chicago!

Thanks to Perot, the republican congress woke up and had the contract with America. More conservative legislation was passed under Clinton than the past or present Bush. I actually miss the Clinton days. I believe your average republican voter would gladly give up their guns if the gun control legistlation was passed by a republican politician.

Do you think the sheep mentality runs that deep? I dunno, maybe. I would hope that that would be the "last straw".

I really hated the Clinton years, but at least there was some moderation of stomping all over our civil rights, unlike the free-for-all bill of rights bashing that's going on now.

All I know is that Ron Paul is the ONLY one that will respect the constitution, and no matter who else would be elected..... we're screwed.

For some (I hope very few) I'm sure it does run that deep. We'll just have to see. Giuliani pretty much says the second amendment only applies in certain parts of the country. Romney says he's against gun control (now) but for the assault weapons ban. Both are for socializing medicine. Giuliani even wanted tax funded abortion. I could go on and on with ways they mirror Hillary, but because Hannity, Limbaugh, CNN and the rest of that crew convinced the herd that they have the best chance of beating Hillary, hey lead the pack.

Think about it. Where the heck did Romney come from. I had KNOWN of Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul long be I even HEARD of Romney. Now all of the sudden Romney's the most popular and the others who've been shouting from the moutain tops are the ones out of nowhere. Go figure.

I don't believe Ron Paul would get the nomination. It doesn't matter who we the people want. The powers brokers behind the scenes will select our next president, as usual. And it won't be one that threatens thier house of cards.

All this Rep. vs Dem stuff is just a dog and pony show, smoke and mirrors.
Our gun rights are safer with a Rep. Prez? George Senior signed off on more gun control legislation than all the presidents before him. George Jr. just this month signed off on an executive order giving the Prez unlimited powers to confiscate any personal property, including guns, in a declared state of emergency. Ala post Katrina New Orleans. All the while the NRA is crowing about getting laws passed to prevent local LEO from usurping the 2nd amendment in times of crises. Classic magicians trick. Show you what they want you to see with one hand while the other hand makes the switch.

And as for the sheeple turning in their guns? Don't ever kid yourself. If they outlawed guns tomorrow, the next day 9 out of 10 people would be lined up to turn theirs in. Immediately. These keyboard commandos crying "From my cold dead hands!" would be hiding in their cold dark closets. I've seen it.
But the one glimmer of hope? That leaves between 8 an 10 million, well armed, dedicated people who are willing to draw that line in the sand.

I am supporting Ron Paul. I will vote for him in the primary and hope that he defies all odds and actually gets the nomination. I'll use the soap box here, the ballot box later, and pray that it never comes down to the ammo box.

But I hold out little hope of ever getting an honest, patriotic, constitutional candidate into the white house. Of either party.
I really don't care who gets in this next time. Guliani, Romney, Clinton, there's not a dimes worth of difference between them. No matter what label they put on them. We are heading for the same predetermined destination. I'd just as soon get the ride over with.

I will say that I'm honestly glad to be wrong on this one. I really and truly thought that mistress hillary would get ahead of obama and he would kneel down and team with mh. Then we would have mh for pres. with obama as VP.
If that was to still happen then I don't think who the reps. or Libs throw out for their choice. That would make a unbeatable team, and what they would bring... well we know mh's opinions don't we.? On the up note it seems they despise each other enough to make it very unlikely that they would or could team up.
Sorry to have given ya'll nightmares or worse daymares.
    Take care Be safe Poacher.

Unfortunately MM.... I have come to agree with pretty much everything you said there.

I am going to hold out some hope for Ron Paul, albeit a small one, it's something.

I'll agree. I think we've gone off the deep end as a country and it won't be long before we hit rock bottom.

    Minuteman,

You are right on with your post.

What is the difference between a Republican and a Democrat?

Just a name. They all over spend other people's money to maintain their power.

It would be my hope that no one turned in their guns when that day comes.

Man you guys pretty well summed it up... mh still scares the crap outta me and droopy drawers ( king george) looks harmless enough on the tube , but somebody writes something for him to "just sign here "sir" " and yup-yup ... We are bound and shackled with no legal recourse. We'll be looking at the other "troublemakers" in with us behind the fence brewing raisin jack in an old plastic bucket ; asking ourselves" what in the hell just happened?"

Clinton increased the budget at a slower rate then Bush did.

From 1994 to 2000, the expenditures increased from 1.46 trillion to 1.8 trillion dollars.

Spending in 2006 was 2.6 trillion dollars and is expected to total 2.8 trillion in 2007.

Bush screwed the taxpayer over by over a trillion dollars and he is not done yet.

The is no difference between the Repubs and Dems on spending. Ron Paul is just practicing true Republicanism...something we haven't heard in so long that it sounds foreign to our ears.

    I find it refreshing.

What really aggravates me is that the media continually ignores Ron Paul; they try to pretend he doesn't exist and is not gathering the support. Denial is just a river in Egypt and if we don't mention it then nobody will notice. On Free Republic, the RINOs are so dead-set against Dr. Paul; every mention is pulled quickly unless it is over-ran with comments that are detrimental to Ron Paul. This morning there is an article about Ron Paul on Free Republic and a heated argument from the trash-crowd in the comments. I have no doubt that the article will be pulled soon, but the comment and headline left for the final trashing. Matt Drudge is basically ignoring Ron Paul. What stands out is that he is growing in support in spite of this and even if the election is not won, we will have created a substantial voters block that says some of us want to save this country and we will no longer choose to vote for what is sold to us as the lesser of two evils. We need to stand firm. Every man and woman that takes this stand is one more soldier in the unarmed revolution. We will not be ignored!
It truly no longer matters who wins the election, both parties are equally bad for the country. It has come to a revolution, maybe not fought in fields, but a war none the less. Our voice is our only effective weapon and we must speak loudly to be heard over the carnival barkers for the Corporations.

    UPDATE:
Just as I predicted, http://www.freerepublic.com pulled the Ron Paul Article after less than an hour. We need to ask them why they run mainstream candidate articles but keep trashing Ron Paul.
