The rubber band fridge works, made one back in the advance heat transfer class. Not, um, exactly efficient ----. So far as those two clowns go there's no hope for them.

BTW, there are probably no more than a dozen scientists and engineers world wide that completely understand entropy. (I'm not one of them.)

I understand the principles well having worked on air compressor for years.
Compress the molecules of any thing and they heat up some actually become unstable even explosive. (acetylene gas) Acetylene gas in a bottle is mixed with acetone in order to compress ,otherwise the friction of the gas molecules get hot.
Decompression of these same molecules causes them to cool. the faster the decompression the colder they become .
Stabilized so that there is no change in pressure molecules conform to surrounding temperatures .
Decompression creates a space (larger surface area) like a vacuum and expanding the surface area temperatures now are being spread thin till the spreading stops.
Then it conforms/balances again with surrounding temperatures.
Building air compressors (not for refrigeration) we tested the unit and the tank to make certain of it's quality of my workmanship .
After filling we would let out the compressed air from a 1" ball valve and watch the air freeze the moisture in the atmosphere inside the tank turning to ice and spitting out chunks that hurt if they hit you. "Not" an efficient method of making ice by the way .
The rubber band being stretched is compressing and shrinking it's diameter. being released to it's natural size spreads the surface area displacing the relative heat .

NO!! The acetone dissolves the acetylene, hence there's no great pressure in the acetylene bottle, thus little heat of compression to dissipate. That is also why you NEVER invert an acetylene bottle. You do not want the acetone to escape and let the bottle become a bomb.
