I've spent the last hour searching for an old thread (I think over a year ago) that had pics of an M1A/M14 that went kaboom. A really bad one, it was in a thousand pieces. I can't find it for the life of me, anyone remember it? I think the pic was posted on falfiles, but I'm not sure.
Yes very nasty I didn’t read deep into it, was the bolt a USGI forged Bolt of the soft SA commercial bolt?
Clint McKee says it was non USGI barrell structure that caused it. Can't copy the text... http://www.thegunzone.com/m1akb/762r.html
The more I read on it the more I was amazed that the ole boy lived to buy another gun. That barrel was extremely flawed with cracks. I wonder just how many rounds that bbl took afore it decided enough. Take care Be safe Poacher.
jeezuuhhhzzzz....."structural failure"... interesting tinfoil myth "rounds spiked with c4"...be a good trick IF you could surrepticiously locate and tamper with patriot cache' s Though it is 'hard to believe a standard round did that, .
I've seen maybe a dozen issue M14's that have came apart for one reason or another but have never seen one blow apart to that extent. And I have never seen one with barrel failure such as that. The shooter was born under a lucky star.
