I really liked this article and many of the products that they mentioned. Finally the gun industry is understanding that woman want nice looking products when we carry. For those men who have women/ wives that carry, these are some very nice Christmas gifts.

The decision to carry concealed is one that's personal and one that only an individual can make for him or herself. What works best for one person might not be the best fit for another.

Over the last few years, I have continually researched holsters to attempt and find the holster that's right for me. I found myself reading various holster reviews that are primarily written by men and realized that the best person to find holsters for women should be a woman herself.

I've struggled to find a holster that's comfortable for me, because I'm plus size. My options have always been to deal with the high-riding position and the decocker of my gun digging into my back or side, carry at 5 o'clock with a left-handed holster or carry in my purse. I figured there had to be more options out there than what I had previously read about.

I tested out a number of products using the H&K VP9, Glock 19 Gen 3 and H&K USP Compact 9mm. Here are a few of my favorites:

Concealed carry comfort is a big deal for everyone. The last thing you want to be doing is constantly adjusting your concealed firearm for comfort when out in public. Nice post @Motomom34

I like that they are making nice, plain but stylish purses. The purses that I see in the local gun shop are gaudy and draw the eye. I do not want to carry a purse that is all blinged out. I think it says to a would be robber, "look at me".

Never have liked the idea of a carry purse. Too easy to grab and disarm you. Don't kid yourself, if a 150 or bigger guy grabs your purse and pulls to get it away you are going to loose it if on your shoulder or be on the ground if the strap is across you on your opposite shoulder. I will only carry on belt or a shoulder holster.

Other thing is can you draw out of a purse and fire accurately within 3 seconds? If not your screwed in a close range encounter. The bad guy will be on you and will take your gun.

the manner of carry is a personal choice... carrying off the body has always struck me as unwise...

if they get your carry device away from you or tie it up by grabbing it... well..

of course letting an assailant get within a certain distance is often problematic...

at times knowing who is or is not such a person... can sometimes be difficult...

that said I have tried several different style holsters... so far the most comfortable have been...

milt sparks summer special... and a cheap waste band type I picked up to give it a try... both have been good to me...

giving serious thought to pickin up a higher quality version...

of course such things depend a great deal on body shape and size/shape of firearm carried...

also many of the seemingly ideal size firearms... as in very small...

can be very hard to use/control... so???

There's zero people, cops included with open carry, that can deploy in three seconds, even if in an area known to be problematic. If you are in an area like that, leave. Or draw, take your firing grip and withdraw. concealed carry assures that you can have a weapon on you, but does not promise ability. That said, comfort is important. I don't see a problem with purse carry, across the shoulder. The purse needs to be better than average secure against snatch and grab. On the body is better, sez me and maybe me only.

I have to totally disagree with you on this. I just put on my open carry gun and can draw and accurately fire in 1 second. Try it for yourself. The only delay would be assessing the need to draw.

Another vote for the Aliengear holsters. I have been using one for the last four years. Very comfortable and secure. Whatever your holster choice is,it needs to be comfortable, easy to use and conceal well. If it lacks any of these you won't use it all the time like you should.

90% of my purses are cross-body or backpacks.

I really liked how she ended her article:
Regardless of what you decide to carry, either in a purse or in a holster, just remember one thing: be consistent and always make sure you're practicing the four basic rules of firearms safety:

    1) Treat all guns as if they're loaded.
    2) Never point your gun at something you're not willing to destroy.
    3) Keep your finger off the trigger until you've made the decision to shoot and your eyes are on target.
    4) Be aware of your target and what's behind it.

@BlueDuck and @Bishop So, you guys can recommend Alien Gear holsters? Can you please be specific in which model you have? I ask because I am still searching for a holster that I truly like. I got a box full of holsters I never use and have taken to using a Remora most the time. It's a simple IWB friction holster, no clips or attachments, but would prefer something with a paddle or belt loops. Alien Gear factory is really near where I lived and I thought to look at them but never got around to it, maybe it was the strange name that put me off. BTW I carry a Glock 19. I could carry something smaller (G43) but like the extra rounds.

I recently purchased a Safariland 7378 7TS ALS and I really like the ALS (Automatic Locking System) which secures your firearm and you detach it with your thumb, very nice, but it's a pain to get on and off and it's not very concealed so...not too crazy about it and I imagine it will end up in the box with the others.

Seems to me that if something is important, that one would invest in the materials and build to suit them self .
    That's what I do.

You might contact this guy, he makes custom holsters, and might be able to gin up what you want. I have one of his products, not fancy but functional.

Instead of carrying in a purse you may want to consider a belt pouch. I use it in the summer and it is so small and slim that most people have no idea there is a pistol in it. It measures 8x6.5x1.5 with a Glock 42 in it. It does not come with an extra mag holder so I made my own. Those are Pro Mag 10 round mags instead of the 6 round it comes with and Underwood extreme penetrator ammo.

Long ago, sheesh I hadn't realized how long until now, when I took my Concealed Carry Course, the instructor warned us that we would all eventually acquire a box or drawer. The box would be filled with all our failed attempts to find the perfect concealed carry holster for us. That what one person would love, another would hate. That no two people would be comfortable with the same holster, even if carry the exact same model gun. An even if they had the same holster, each would wear it a lil differently. He told us he was just warning us in advance so we would know what to expect as we look for what we are comfortable with.

How many moves do you have to go through to get to your weapon in a timely manor ?
often times there are folks that want a trim belly and to also eat like a horse . you can't have both .
You must decide how valuable being armed is, and then develop a wardrobe that helps you dress accordingly .
Most events are an ambush , the perp is not going to give you time to fumble through you purse to find your gun, or undress till you can get to it.
Your arm is full of a sack of groceries, and your unlocking your front door,, and the perp comes from behind you, then what ?
Have you been practicing your move ? ( with a trusted friend )

 Now try it while seated in the driver's seat with your seat belt on. Even I, as old and feeble as I am, can draw from a dropleg holster and get a semi aimed round off in under 1 second while facing the target. Bear in mind that the cop has to defeat a retention holster, and so should you if you open carry, or deal with a shirt or whatever if concealed.
