Will Kavanaugh be confirmed?

Seems to be the question of the week, will Kavanaugh be confirmed? The local talk show was polling people and I have read different articles/polls. Schumer said no way when Kavanaugh was named but Chuck has been quoted as saying:
There's no presumption of innocence or guilt when you have a nominee before you
Yet it seems many have made up their minds. We see politicians battling each other which IMO is tearing this country apart further. I do believe that the political division is a huge reason people are losing friends and families. People no longer know how to talk politics in a civil manner. Yes, lost another friend because of my "politics".

Having said that, will Kavanaugh be confirmed? Is he too damaged now? If he is not confirmed what do you see for the next person? If he is confirmed, will the women press charges? What next?

 

I have a sinking feeling he will not be confirmed. Whether the accusations are true or not, he is tainted. The meltdown will be huge if he is confirmed and we are near election time. Politicians are scared of losing votes. Afraid of losing votes but not about publicly destroying a person or persons.

I wonder if Kavanaugh is really a bad person with a dark past or if accusations are false. I do believe something happened to the Ford woman but I do not know who assaulted her. The biased reporting on all sides makes it so hard to know what is the true facts.

If he is not confirmed and this was all lies and games, then how far will these politicians go next time?

 

I feel Kavenaugh would or will be the judge we needed to continue our constitution. If the Dems get their pick, we are done . My opinion . I'm pretty steadfast in my beliefs, although I will listen to opposing views. If they decide to part our friendship over a different point of view, then I didn't need them anyway. Same with family. I'm not going to hide my feelings or beliefs, if asked, for nobody. I figure it's more their problem than mine.
I feel in politics, there is no boundaries anymore. It's just gotten totally disgusting the way they act, and the depths they will go to push their own agendas. I fear we are in big trouble in the days to come.

 

All people lie. Napoleonic rules/law does not apply in USA regardless how loud, or how many folks scream to the heavens, an accusation without proof is worthless. People have been killed in riots driven by emotions and little else, and no confirmable proof. There is supposed to be an up or down vote on the Senate floor on Friday. I hope it happens and Kavanaugh should be confirmed. I do not trust Flake to do the right thing. So in my opinion it is a coin toss. However long as the GOP holds both upper and lower houses of congress you can be assured they will not get away with a repeat of the Kavanaugh confirmation fiasco. The next time a SCOTUS nomination comes up, the GOP will not be delayed. Pass the torch RBG. It's time to go home.

Yes, but I fear his rep is damaged in the minds of the snowflakes, and many of his opinions will be second guessed. What that will mean when he gets on the bench, I do NOT know. However, is without doubt that his detractors will suffer exactly nothing for badmouthing him.

I hasten to add that if he is NOT confirmed, he'll need to retire because any and all decisions he renders in the appellate court will be appealed automatically.

 

I bet he is confirmed on Friday, with Manchin and without Collins. I think I'm hopelessly biased on this. Kavanaugh reminds me of my husband. My husband felt that living a pure life was important even in high school. So, when Kavanaugh says he was a virgin in high school, I believe him. Also, Ford didn't remember these memories until she went through memory regression therapy. Memory regression is quackery of the first order, I think past life regression therapy has a better track record. I'm stunned so many women just believe Ford and whenever I talk to one of them, they brush aside the evidence and want to talk about Donald Trump. This is lunacy. Is this really what the future holds for us as a country? I'm horrified at every level.

 

Full court press on the lying media, Hitlery was on trying to sound lake a statesman but still coming over as a shrew. The democraps have convinced enough people on their side, that even if chosen, he will have a difficult time being effective. So far the democraps take no prisoners approach isn't universal, but it is about to. Running a trillion dollar deficit, tangled up in problems all over the world, and government gets tied up for weeks over throwing ice in a bar or a 17 year old year old pushing the limit before he stopped, and he did stop. At age 80, I doubt if anyone I know didn't while making out go to the point one or the other said stop. If they stopped, it can be argued that the last act was sexual assault, as it had reached the point it was not wanted, but in most cases neither one knew ahead of time at what point it would reach where it was undesired.

You are more optimistic then I am regarding future confirmation hearings. I can see this as being a new standard. Most of those people on the Senate committee are worried about how it would affect them vs what is the right/legal process. Clarence Thomas' confirmation hearing looked tame compared to Kavanaugh's. I remember watching the Thomas hearing.

Look at the first hour after the POTUS named Brett as one of several he was considering, the MSM and Dems were foaming at the mouth over Roe vs Wade, where the hell did that come from? ( we all know it was a MSM invention) and they ran with that, so much that even the Goobeners race in Or. is using that as a Dem tactic to keep the Harpy in office another term
Then there is the Fact that Brett is a some what strict Constitutional Judge, and has very strong leanings on such things as the 2nd, again, it's THAT point that really scares them all, what would a court of Constitutional Justices look like, and more importantly, how would they rule over such topics as the 2nd, which needs a full and complete ruling and a finality to it!

The way I see it, the Dems will get what they want one way or another, By besmirching the good name of this man, he will be ruined, and this Ford Hagg will fade to obscurity funded by the Dems to live quietly some place in Californication, while Brett is destroyed, even if he some how survives this "Purge" he will never hear another case! IF he some how survives this circus and becomes a SCOTUS Justice, it will be a miracle!

I think Trump handled this about as well as anyone could. I bet the urge for him and other Republicans was to say, "The hell with it!" and move forward for confirmation but he has stood back while the FBI (as if we can believe them) do their job which was the right thing to do because if he had not then he would have been playing right into the Democrats hands. So, now the FBI will find nothing (how can they after 30+ years?) and the confirmation will occur...the next question is what will the Dems try next to delay the confirmation?

As far as this Ford, yes, there may or may not even have been such an occurrence for like @Seepalaces says, 'Memory regression is quackery of the first order". I say this with some first hand knowledge as was married to a shrink for 10 years and that memory regression crap is - well - crap, to put it bluntly. It may or may not have even happened! Furthermore, Ford knows this!

Am I the only one around here who would like to know why these things didn't get reported 30 years ago when they happened? And, where in the world is a shred of evidence? All we got is a bunch of Trump haters shouting "WITCH! WITCH! BURN WITCH!"

This week expect to see more smears on Kavanaugh up to and including child porn. The way Democrats have handled this are starting to lose voter support to the point that ND is likely to go red. The latest one about the gang rapes just blew up, and I think you will see claims 2, 3, and 4 prosecuted for slander.Turns out that the blue wave at best will be a yellow trickle. The only bigger losers than the Democrats are the MSM.

Kavanaugh gets sworn in. Republicans increase their control in November, and RBG gets replaced by a Trump appointed Judge.
