    Fluzone® High-Dose (Influenza Vaccine)
    Proven Efficacy Safety Information

For patients 65+, Fluzone High-Dose vaccine is the only senior influenza vaccine with superior efficacy compared with Fluzone vaccine.1,2 Fluzone High-Dose vaccine delivers 4X the amount of antigen of Fluzone vaccine.1 Since 2009, more than 90 million doses have been sold in the United States.3

    Proven Efficacy
According to the randomized, controlled, head-to-head trial conducted in more than 30,000 seniors 65 years of age and older, over 2 flu seasons, Fluzone High-Dose vaccine provided1:

    Primary Endpoint
    24.2%
    Better Protection
    from Influenza
    compared with Fluzone vaccine1,2
Primary endpoint of the study was the occurrence of laboratory-confirmed, protocol-defined, influenza-like illness caused by viral strains regardless of their antigenic similarity to vaccine components.
    Secondary Endpoint
    51.1%
    Better Protection
    from Influenza
    compared with Fluzone vaccine1,2
A secondary endpoint of the study was the occurrence of culture-confirmed influenza caused by viral types/subtypes antigenically similar to those contained in the respective annual vaccine formulations in association with a modified Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-defined influenza-like illness.
Proven in a randomized controlled trial to prevent more cases of influenza in adults 65+ compared with Fluzone vaccine1,2
    • Results published in the New England Journal of Medicine
    • The only senior influenza vaccine with superior efficacy compared with Fluzone vaccine1,2,a
      • More than 30,000 subjects across 2 flu seasons: 2011-2012 and 2012-20131,a
      • Across multiple strains of influenza: A (H1N1), A (H3N2), and B2
      • With vaccine components that were well matched or not well matched to the circulating strains1,2
    • Since 2009, more than 90 million doses of Fluzone High-Dose vaccine have been sold in the United States3
    • 4X the amount of antigen of Fluzone vaccine1,2
    • Nearly 70% of adults 65+ who were vaccinated against the flu during the 2016-2017 flu season received Fluzone High-Dose vaccine4
aPer-protocol analysis set for efficacy assessments.1

    Safety Information
    Safety Demonstrated

    • In adults 65 years of age and older (N=3,832)1
    • In a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, controlled trial1
    • Subjects were randomized 2:1 to receive Fluzone High-Dose vaccine vs Fluzone vaccine1

Important safety information for Flublok Quadrivalent, Fluzone Quadrivalent, and Fluzone High-Dose Vaccines
    [IMG]
Flublok Quadrivalent, Fluzone Quadrivalent, and Fluzone High-Dose vaccines should not be administered to anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction (eg, anaphylaxis) to any component (including egg protein for Fluzone Quadrivalent and Fluzone High-Dose vaccines) or previous dose of the respective vaccine. In addition, Fluzone Quadrivalent and Fluzone High-Dose vaccines should not be administered to anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of any influenza vaccine.

If Guillain-Barré syndrome has occurred within 6 weeks following previous influenza vaccination, the decision to give Flublok Quadrivalent, Fluzone Quadrivalent, or Fluzone High-Dose vaccine should be based on careful consideration of the potential benefits and risks.

In adults, the most common local and systemic adverse reactions to Flublok Quadrivalent, Fluzone Quadrivalent, and Fluzone High-Dose vaccines include pain at the injection site; headache and myalgia. In children, the most common reactions to Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine include pain, erythema, and swelling at the injection site; myalgia, malaise, and headache (irritability, abnormal crying, drowsiness, appetite loss, vomiting, and fever in young children). Other adverse reactions to these vaccines may occur. Vaccination with Flublok Quadrivalent, Fluzone Quadrivalent, or Fluzone High-Dose vaccine may not protect all individuals.

INDICATION FOR FLUBLOK QUADRIVALENT, FLUZONE QUADRIVALENT, AND FLUZONE HIGH-DOSE VACCINES
Flublok Quadrivalent, Fluzone Quadrivalent, and Fluzone High-Dose vaccines are indicated for active immunization for the prevention of influenza disease caused by influenza A subtype viruses and type B virus(es) contained in each vaccine. Flublok Quadrivalent vaccine is approved for use in persons 18 years of age and older. Fluzone Quadrivalent vaccine is approved for use in persons 6 months of age and older. Fluzone High-Dose vaccine is approved for use in persons 65 years of age and older.

I’ve never taken one. Don’t intend to either. Wholistic naturalpathic approach works for us. We do not get sick much. And when we do, it is rarely bad. Knock on wood! (For the superstitious approach)

I was not happy with my flu shot this year. Out for a couple of days. Felt like i had been taken out to the trash and left to rot.

Got my injection @ 1400 on Thursday, after spending the morning at the DAV Office, no pain at injection site.
Outside at day break on Friday to hay and feed the cattle, unloaded a trailer and moved it into storage spot, picked up and secured items that the coming rain might affect, feed the cats, closed up a shed and inside for a late breakfast by 1100.
Didn't feel well and accounted the late chow for that but also figured the Injection might be playing a part.
Wife was feeling flushed but no other problems so cranked on the AC.
I took a nap as always,Vagus Nerve reaction to eating a large breakfast.
Slept for 5 hours so the Injection and the mornings work did me in for that Nap.

Not bad, I'll swap feeling a bit puny and taking a 5 hour nap for a week of the runs, puking my guts out, being dehydrated and a maybe death for an injection any day.

    YMMV.

Raining like the Brown Cow is out front so good that I secured everything yesterday and now I can do inside stuff today. Coffee Time.

Flu Shot Remains Most Dangerous Vaccine Based on Injuries and Deaths Compensated by Government

    ............EDIT
Dr. Geier goes on to explain that flu is “the wrong thing to vaccinate against” because you have to keep re-vaccinating against it every year, unlike childhood infectious diseases, such as smallpox, that are only vaccinated for once. Dr. Geier points out how ridiculous it is spend billions of dollars on a vaccine that might, at its best, save about 50 lives a year, when there are far more serious problems causing death that are more worthy of that kind of expenditure.............

The first year back stateside the wife and I got a dose of the flu that literary flatten us and I do mean flatten. We both still had symptoms a month later. The following year we took the shot, got a bit ill, but it passed quickly. Last year we didn't get the shot, got the flu and it wasn't too bad. This year we are undecided however, we are both scheduled for physical exams early next month which is when we'll decide. Personally, I have seldom taken the shot even when I was overseas (although we were constantly urged to do so) and the wife never had one before coming to the states but that first year back was a doozy so...

What I will do is take that new shingles vaccine (Shingrix vaccine) even if I have to pay for it myself.
