We went to Bass Pro shop yesterday and they had a display about the Quiet Kat, all terrain, all electric bike.
    QuietKat-Brand-Category.
The brochure shows a hunter on the bike and they are promoting it as something a hunter would like. Yes, it is quiet but it is electric. This is like the one we checked out.

It gets 20 miles on a charge but has a 300 lb load carry. This is not a good bike for large game hunters. If someone is hunting birds yes but not for elk hunting. I would say a hunter and gear will be close to 200 lbs. The bike weighs over 20 pounds. Rider, game, gear, the more weight would drain the battery faster plus what about cold conditions?

I love all these new gadgets and inventions. Even my boys were not impressed with this one. The range per full battery was not enough. Especially for about $4000.

This guy reviewed the bike if you want to watch a video, I did not watch this one. I watched the one at Bass.

I have a hard time believing that an 11.6 amp hour battery will haul 300 pounds for 20 miles.

Find a used one for cheap, I bet they suffer catastrophic depreciation like any other all electric or hybrid vehicle.
Maybe find out how proprietary the battery is if it's not really locked down with a bunch of unnecessary BS maybe a larger one could be made or a second one installed or carried as a spare.
I see tons of ebIke batteries on ebay.

An electric bike should use something like 100 watt hours per mile.
So the battery capacity is probably around 2kwh so it probably weighs around 20lb.

11ah at 48v, yeah no way it's going to go 20 miles on a charge.
That battery is around 1/3 to 1/2 the size it needs to be to go 20 miles.
A skinny kid would have to drive it at walking speed on a flat road to get it to go 20 miles.

I recently rehabbed an electric scooter for a disabled vet. It has more guts than the "Quiet Kat" and no way it will go 20 miles.

Maybe the Quiet Kat is made by the same folks who sell those miracle walkie talkie radios with a 0.5 watt transmit power and a pissy little rubber antenna but have a range of 30 miles.(y)

Initial cost aside , longevity of the battery and cost of replacements are my concern .
My last job was only 10 miles away ,and had I been using an electric bike I could have charged while at work..
As it was I rode a motorcycle every day, and I am fine with that .

Those 11ah 48v batteries may be swappable.
I see a lot of 48v bike batts on ebay.

I am glad that others are questioning the 20 miles range. I thought 20 mile range was pretty generous. If a hunter buys this for hunting, hopefully they will test it out first because I think they will be doing a lot of pedaling.

Something else to consider, these are considered "Motorized Vehicles" and subject to the same laws and restrictions as any other powered machine! This problem really comes to the fore when you try to take one some place that restricts the use of "Motorized" and can also get you in trouble if using it to hunt, many areas are foot or horse ( or drafting animal) Only, and even a manually peddled bike is verboten! I witnessed a guy getting a ticket for having an E powered bike on a trail even though there were all kinds of manual bikes, and there was no signage indicating otherwise, but the law is the law, so if you do get one, know the restrictions in the areas you plan to use them! BTW, removing the battery doesn't fly ether, it's still powered!

Still hae mine. Not used it for hunting. But I get good range since I also pedal. After 20 miles, I still have the majority of my battery life left. Way heavier than 20 pounds though. Mine looks similar, but weighs closer to 80 pounds. So I do not go mountain biking where I think I will have to carry it. Not gonna be fun.

Was planning a trail ride in the near future though. Let you guys know.

For hunting and maybe more rugged terrain, an electric dual sport bike might be better.

I was thinking a battery that would deliver 20 miles at speed would need to be 2kwh in size and I speculated such a battery by its self would weigh around 20lb.
