Just when did a “Snow Storm” become a State of Emergency?

The snow storm might be the only credible story you'll get from the media,,,

 

There is no Weather Channel,etc, they all sell ads and will play any game it takes to get you to tune in, and like all TV, as less and less people watch it, it has to do more and more grandstanding to get you to listen to their ads.

 

I agree wholeheartedly, BT. Any sensible person knows if they live in an area subject to winter storms and should make appropriate arrangements prior to an event impacting them.

 

Tell what does NOT cause a National Emergency any more ???? Dog crossing road ? Cat in a tree?

 

Wait,I'm confused here,Global Warming should have kicked in by now?

Under normal times we would be backside deep in snow around here.. One could consider global warming except we have had low snow years. That just suckers those commiefornians into a false sense of security only to be blind sided by eight foot snow falls and roads blocked for a weeks and roofs falling in!! It has happened before, it will happen again..I

Love how they curse this land when the snows come..

 

I was thinking the same thing today while listened to the news. If today's weather was happening in the middle of June it might deserve this sort of reporting. It's as if they had never lived through a winter before. Forty years ago "Dangerously low temperatures, snow accumulations in excess of eight inches and sustained high winds" sounded like pretty good sledding weather to me. Now we have to shut down everything and run around like the sky is falling.

 

Personally I am loving it, knew it was coming days in advance, didn't if we were going to be snow, rain or ice. Turned out to be about 2 inches of rain, with a 1/4 inch of ice and a 7-8 inch snowfall. Guess tomorrow temps drop into the teens and give me every reason to feed the hogs and chickens fast and get back to the wood stove, pot of coffee and the latest book I am reading. Flip the news on now and then to see the 24/7 coverage of this epic winter event............... that has slightly little more impact on my life than the Government shut down, which to say is very little effect.

 

As a friendly reminder to all the snow flakes that the government may not be able to save their stupid ass should they do something dumb, like try to drive down a closed state highway and get stuck in a snow drift.

 

There are a LOT of stupid people out there. I saw it tonight cold temps, wind-chill and a threat of snow, but dozens of people left home in t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops...and all of them complained about the cold.

 

i think it depends on how much snow. i think that we can speak if it is an national emargancy when tere is more than 2 meters off snow such as in austria and germany on these moment.
for us it is a pleasure all those snow, we have fresh water , the lake is deep frozen so for some water we dont't drill holes in the ice, that we do only to catch some fish for food now.

 

1 inch of snow is an emergency for London.

 

It is the fault of people having 24/7 news and weather now. The Weather channel has phrases like polar vortex plus they name winter storms. Winter Storm Harper is hitting the East. Things seem to have become more hysterical. Growing up, the only time people would get ready for a storm was if the word, Nor'easter was said. Then we would fill the bathtub with water.
