Looks like the Antis are going after the "Builders" kits and parts to build your own firearms!
Time is getting short, if your thinking of or planning on getting any kits and such, NOW it the time!
I have just ordered a bunch of 1911 parts and frames, a bunch of AR stuff, and as many "Standard Capacity" mags as I can get! No telling what draconian moves are in the works, and with pending laws on the move through the process, I'm not taking chances! I'm even taking on the Glock platform, just ordered 3 full kits to ensure I have enough to pass around to family and friends in my tribe who may not be able to do this before the laws pass and were stuck!

Who is this we you speak of?

What I think they're missing is that banning 80% receivers means that dedicated builders will just tool up and start building stuff from scratch. Do they then press for background checks at Lowe's, and waiting periods for Harbor Freight Tool purchases?

I can run a 1903 Springfield with stripper clips pretty damn fast, and a 1911 with fast mag changes takes capacity out of the argument!
I'm pretty handy with a Front Stuffer and old B.P. Revolvers too!
The whole problem is restriction of every thing the antis think needs restricted is completely arbitrary and subject to the whims and wishes of those in power! Look at what happend in Kali, citizens followed the laws and then Kali changed the laws again and what was lawful when the first restrictions hit is now illegal because the antis believed the laws didn't go far enough! It's a very dangerous road were all on, as was seen!

I too have jumped onto the 80% plastic pistols:D
All kidding aside, it's a wise move. While the Glock isn't my favorite pistol, it's an easy build. The frames really can be finished with a hand drill if that's all a person has. I have been gathering the frames and kits for awhile now for the same reasons as you. They are also being cached. A fan or not, they are reliable and there are tonnes of cheap mags out there.

Zacklies! A glock is way better then nothing, while never my first 3 choices, it's still a better option! Plus, their cheap, and I don't care one zit about them, so I can choot and scoot and toss it away when done with it! That has many advantages right there!

Never looked at pistol kits before. It seems an 80% kit is more than the pistol and a few boxes of rounds down at my LGS. I can almost put two 80% ARs together for the price of one 80% glock kit. What am I missing here?

The trick there is to shop the sales and promos, you an usually come in about 20% under the LGS if you get your self savy to the deals!

I want all my stuff to have serial numbers so I can sell them and promptly forget who I sold them to.

Your stuff needs a serial number to sell? For modern non-NFA long guns manufactured after 1968, and handguns transferred through an FFL, yes. No serial number is required on an 80% build for personal use. If I was to ever sell one, (with some record stating that I built it for my own use, and only later decided to sell it.) I'd be happy to stamp a serial number on it at that time. I always have trouble stamping numbers in a straight line, so one random number would have to do. Pick one. ;)

For more than 25 years they've been sending these bills up, and getting them shot down. They even let their one big win sunset after ten years.

That's why $40 receivers will be $400 at the gun show in a couple months... like they were last time we had these unconstitutional bills proposed. It's far more predictable than the stock market.

We did gain loads of new manufacturers. New local magazine production and complete rifle manufacture must really bother the anti-gun crowd.

Although I'm not an AR15 fan, there are many, many out there. On any weekend I will fill a five gallon bucket with .223/5.56 brass before I have half a bucket of all other rifle and pistol brass combined.

80% receivers are a symptom of a larger problem. There is a false notion out there that the goberment won't know about 80% rifle or pistol that you finished in your garage and therefore won't confiscate it in the event of a ban and/or mandatory turn-in. This is the same goberment that has the NSA tracking phone calls of "suspected terrorists" in the USA. What makes anyone think that they won't use internet gun forums, facebook, or even debit card purchases to find "holdouts". I've told many people that if you have bought more than three guns or one AR-15 "on paper" in your lifetime, then if there is a list your on it. I'm also pretty sure they won't belive the "boating accident" excuse and if history is any indication they will burn down your house to make sure none are hidden in it, with you in it or not.

I don't really care one way or the other about 80% receiver builds, but I find complete name brand alloy receiver AR-15s and third gen Glocks for $400 regularly.
