I happened to have a thought about RP being elected that brought up some concern. Has anyone heard who he may name as a running mate assumeing he wins the nomination? Normaly I wouldnt be TOO worried about it BUT not only is he 72 and so there would be some concern just from that fact of his VP haveing to take over. To me the even larger concern would be that given his ideas about many of the alphabet agencies, I could see being sucessful and following his principals being detrimental to a long life. How happy do you figure the FBI, HSA and a few others backed with funds from the IRS protecting their cash cow would be with being disbanded and the CIA, NSA and others with haveing their chain shortened? Would they really be unable or unwilling to remove a threat to their agencies? I still figure he will get my vote but I also want to be SURE his VP isnt a BAD choice.
I remain hopeful, but I would be amazed if he made it to his own inauguration. I don't think tptb would allow it. I haven't the foggiest who he would have as vp though.
Cynthia McKinney would be an excellent choice as far as I am concerned. But uh... Somehow I doubt that Die Bold will agree.
Whoever Ron Paul might pick will have to be "on the same page" as him about open borders, down-sizing our current military forces, and not having a viable plan on how to replace the current IRS system of collecting taxes. That means that he won't be picking ME as a running mate! At one time, I was "luke warm" about Ron Paul. After seeing him "whine" during the last 2 Republican debates, plus his "whining", high-pitched tone of voice when Bill O'Reilly asked him what I thought were "fair and balanced" questions on "The Factor" show, I'd rather have a President that has "got a pair", and can go on the OFFENSIVE when necessary! Ron Paul is AGAINST both retaliatory AND pre-emptive military strikes! "Turn the other cheek"? NO WAY! Besides, I still have some "issues" about Ron Paul "conveniently" running as a "Republican"! That makes him the one-and-only TRUE "RINO" candidate! Too bad that a "DINO", in the way of Zell Miller, isn't running! Heck, even Joe Lieberman doesn't sound too bad right now!

Let's not forget that the media portrays Paul and other third party candidates as second notch to begin with. Most won't even get a fair share of air time, and none of them will be heralded by the media as being right about anything. And we shouldn't forget that even though Paul is running on the pub ticket, he still must hurdle the enormous mountain of securing the nomination, which will undoubtedly be steered toward a far more pliable, Council of Foreign Relations member or Rothschild favorite. The idea here is to pay attention to Ron Paul's spotless record of service to his country and his life's work. The questions and debates are designed to be oriented in a direction which favors corporate sponsored and communist politics. Ron Paul fights for the Constitution and freedom, not big business and equal distribution of wealth. Naturally, a person of his caliber is often times left with little to argue, because most of the debates focus on false paradigms and empty rhetoric and promise making which only appeases a listless and mindless audience. Pay attention to what is really at stake, here.
DD, I really wish you would check your facts. RP dose not support open boarders. The closest I have seen you come to giving any support to that idea is that he would support doing away with the HSA who curently are in charge of the coast guard, but the coast guard has been around a lot longer than HSA and can easily be seperated again as they are not an agency that gathers intel on US citizens which is where the HSA fails the litmus test. By haveing the military at home rather than playing globo-cop we would also be able to use them to make our own boarders something more than lines on a map. RP has made the statment that a country that dosent controle its own boarders isnt a country at all, so what do you have that contradicts this other than getting rid of an agency that has officialy run the coast guard for the 6 years it has existed while the coast guard has been around for more than 100?
Also he is not a switch party republican. He has been a Republican for decades. He lead the Texas delegation to the Repub convention to support Ronald Reagan in 1980. He is one of the few "old School" republicans. Not a "Reagan Republican" (dems that switched parties in the 80's). He ran as a presidential candidate for the Liberterian party in the 90's but he is and always has been a Republican. IF that makes any kind of difference to people.
Ron Paul is what Republicans used to stand for before they decided to chase voters from the center and forget about Republican ideals. The fact that so many are uncomfortable about his beliefs leads me to believe that active republicans today are the blue dog democrats. Republican sails have been trimmed incorrectly for too long.
Whatever the case, if his name recognition and public appearances do not increase by the end of the year, he won't stand a chance. The failure of the media to acknowledge his presence does no good, either.

Agreed, as the election has grown closer I've made intentional efforts to discuss politics with acquaintances that I never discuss politics with and these are people I'd consider card carrying citizens of the matrix and over the age of 40 and all of them had never hear of RP. A couple said they vaguly remember hearing of him after I discussed him a little bit but it wasn't with an accepting tone if you get my drift. DD without having spent time reviewing your posting history my first thought was as others that you're here to however free speech exists so even delusional minds like yours will not be surpressed.
Well, it finally happened, I saw a Ron Paul bumper sticker today. Maybe there is a snowballs chance in hell.
I don't remember the website I was reading the article on but it was from a search on Ron Paul. It was the story of his campaign in Texas for his congressional seat. The local Republican party was against him and they put all of their backing, money and influence behind his opponent. It was said that he didn't have the proverbial snowballs chance. Guess what? He won by a landslide! And he has held the seat for the last 10 years! The "new" Republican party has a long track record of opposing him and trying to silence his message. But it hasn't succeeded in Texas. We can't let it succeed nationaly!!!
