Hello from South Dakota

Just joined up last weekend. With the spring storm taking place outside right now, I thought I would take this opportunity to check in. The family and I live in western South Dakota. Good Lord willing, we will be moving to our off grid mountain land in just about a year. Sooner if possible. I am semi-retired, spending most of my free time now renovating the house instead of paying someone else to do it.
Been around a bit, done some things, but always looking and willing to learn from others as well as myself in the doing. I fear for our country and where it is heading.
I enjoy growing or harvesting as much of my own food as I can and preserving it, being as frugal as possible without being ridiculous, shooting to stay proficient, sharing with friends and family, and drinking a good beer after a long day. We are tired of working for other people or entities and we are looking forward to being our own bosses and being on our own timetable when we make our move.
Anyway, I plan to look around and see what I can learn and who I can meet.

 

Plenty of people here with your similar beliefs , so it shouldn't be hard to find info on about anything you may have a question for . Some pretty smart monkeys in here . And I'm sure you've got a list of good things we can gain from you as well . Welcome aboard .

Unfortunately no. Father in law was a ham operator prior to health issues and will be looking for guidance from him when we get established.
