This is just such a fantastic story I had to share it, 12 year old boy in Arkansas builds his own Fusion reactor at home. What a feel good story. Nice to see a young kid doing something so brilliant and cool. This 12-year-old built a nuclear reactor at home using equipment he found on eBay
Been done....years ago.... Yup, I built a nuclear fusion reactor Standing on the shoulders of giants...young giants. The TED talk clip may trigger some of the residents here at SM.
I loved cherry bombs. Match guns were fun too, made the girls scream tho, got me the strap but worth it. ha ha ha
Whether he built a real one or not. Good to see the younger generation doing something besides texting and video games.
Agreed....the 12 year old's dad stumped up US$10,000 for development expenses...I presume for things not found in his dad's garage.
Cute story, but not new. Vid is dated 2012, but even with aging memory, the build was publicly recognized before then. Gotta ask, now he's 19 or 20, has there been any followup on his career?
There was a spate of articles in Feb 2019 talking about the now 14 Y/O. I suppose he is going to high school and chasing girls now. Nuclear fusion can't hold a candle compared to a good looking girl - eh?
One thing YOU'ALL need to understand his that there has NEVER been a sustained Nuclear Fusion Reactor ever built... PERIOD... and it would be the "Holy Grail" in Power Production if it ever happened.... Nuclear Engineers and .Gov has spent BILLIONS seeking this Holy Grail, and have yet to make it work....
That is so true and as it should be. I taught all 4 of my kids to love fishing and mucking about on rivers and lakes. The youngest son was the best fisherman ever. I loved his addiction for fishing and I fed it, he fed us fish. When he was about 8-10 I came home from work one day, I had been socking in the OT. Meaning no Saturday morning fishing. The whole place was in an uproar, the wife was frantic. Your son, always my son when shite happened, caught and cooked his gold fish today. wah wah wah. I looked at him and he looked at me, I said gotta go fishin bad right. He did not say a word just stood there staring at his shoes. I said come kids grab your gear we are all going fishing right now. Of course that all changed when he got a girlfriend. He took her fishing a few times, and when he quit bringing fish home. I knew the game was over. He was hooked and hooked good. He married that girl, they have a ranch and 2 kids that he is teaching to fish.
