May is spring and spring is considered the time of awakening, a reset. For many of us the cold weather is leaving, the days are getting warmer and longer. It is the time of the year when people get motivated and work on spring cleaning, getting chores done or starting a new project. Prepping is a way of life but it is also a life of constantly checking, making sure we are ready for whatever this world throws at us. What are you doing this month? Building, practicing, organizing, re-stocking? What about working on you?

We learn from each other and often motivation is inspired from the actions of others. Every single monkey should have at least one thing they are doing. What are you working on?

    hmm..
garden, a 3rd raised bed to prep and plant. This one is just herbs/medicinals
pressure wash the house and some vinyl (yuck) fencing.
cut up the trees along the woodline that came down in the recent storms
find and fix the intermittent leak in one of the dormers
get my toy vehicle back on the road after full brakes inc master cyl and lines replacement.
And I'm absolutely certain the wife has a list....

I finally got a jig whipped up to hold the flash hider on an SVT-40 so I could knock the front sight hood out of the dovetail without marring the finish. I'm measuring and looking at pictures of a Hoban Rifle Model 45 bolt that I may have to build from scratch, New carbide .45LC dies need to be set up. Still working on my portable bullet casting box with built in ventilation system. Hmmm, lets see, there are two trees cut up in the back field that need to be burned. This is a TOTM that could keep going forever with all my projects. I'll post some pictures as things progress.

Working on books, I have like 8 books I am writing, and one is in just a few days.
They are spaced out for releases. But other then that nothing yet. I have a 67 F250 Ranger I may have to sell as I just do not have the time to spend with it.

Trying to get a couple trees down before they’re loaded with leaves. Not sure I’ll get them all done before that happens. Plus traveling back and forth to the coast trying to prep for the house build. There’s just not enough time or energy in a day ,,, anymore.

Working on '97 Jeep. Transmission is in the rebuild shop. New High Volume engine oil pump and rear engine oil seal replacement should be here tomorrow.

Once that's put back together, need to head to BOL and brace the solar panel racks a bit better. Working on the angle iron braces today. Other projects at BOL as well.

Watching peppers and tomatoes near maturity, squash and other vegetables are growing like weeds (for a change). Need to wash the solar panels off.
Now if I could just get that armadillo...

Besides post winter cleaning and de moss' ing, im mostly working on Rifle projects and seriously reloading/experimenting!
Got a wild idea about making Sabots for .30 cal that can re-purpose .22 on up to 6.5mm bullets, and so far, it seems to be working, though loud as hell, over all, very happy with the results! Got my CJ2A project moved to the front of the que, and am gettin excited to finally get the little monster on the road! I found a good low milage Jeep 2.6L 4 banger and 5 speed, both getting gone through, and a set of Dana 44s out of a CJ-5 with disk brakes! Body is in really good shape, with minimum rust, so once i get it completly stripped down, its off to the media blaster and then primed! Nice thing about this Jeep is all the local parts houses that have O.E.M. and Aftermarket stuff are super close by making rhis little monster a prett fast amd easy build!

I agree. Last week I picked up all the downed branches and snapped them into the perfect length for burning. It is spring so we are ready to fire up the rocket stove.

I saw an article on making a coke bottle gas mask How to Make an Improvised Gas Mask | The Art of Manliness but after reading, it seems to be a face mask, not really a gas mask. I picked up a few bottles and will try making some. Not planning on protesting but want to have the know how.

Also on our May list is communications. We have CB radios but the latest and greatest thing to have according to the boys is Rugged radios. They think having two-way handhelds per vehicle would be better. Not sure if the radios are worth the cost.

Two way radios got me out of two serious "you better start walking" jams in Japan. One was on a mountain side. New construction with loose gravel and I ran out of road at a vertical drop and my little Mitsubishi rally car couldn't get enough traction to get out. The other was a similar problem with a mud slick road that left me stuck in a wet mosquito infested valley. I had to hike out of the valley to make radio contact with my rescuers, but the radios saved the day on both occasions.

They look like colorful Baofeng radios...and twice the price.

...and they do require a license to transmit legally.

Mrs Dart and I shot a couple thousand rounds last week and Saturday we went through some formal pistol training and conceal carry certification. As nervous as she was, at the end during certification, she shot 3 points off of me.....very nice!!!

Remodeling our master bath at this time, lighting is being installed this weekend.
Finishing about 10 different remodel projects and then we are thinking of selling and building a new house.
I need a bigger wood shop!!
