    if you look at the charts below I think you can see why we argue this issue.

    Recommed number of shot for infants and children in
    1950=3
    2013=36

    Your Child. Your Choice.

    414% Increase In Vaccines Given to U.S. Children

    In 1950, your child would have received 7 vaccines by the age of 6. Let’s fast forward to 2013.

    If you follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) endorsed annual childhood vaccine schedule, your child will receive over 36 vaccines by the time they are 6 years of age!

    Will you over-vaccinate your child?

    Before you see the dramatic increase in the vaccines given to children, please take a look at how many vaccines are given to children in the United States compared with other countries around the world.

    It staggers the mind. Question is, why are there so many alergies now opposed to say 1960. BTW service members get used as pin cushions, and pretty much lose track of the number of shots they are given.

    Mostly because parents don't let kids play outside and get exposed (therefore acclimated and desensitized) to the common allergens in the outdoors. That's what I think, anyway. (Didn't help me with a grass pollen allergy that has stuck with me all these years. My house is a sneezatoria in late spring.)

    Once deployed we carried, just in case.

    After all, things happen and emergency leave or other event can find you in strange places and no record can leave you with no transport past a exit or a very sore arm.

    What percentage of the shots required now are due to the children being in day care or in schools where they may interact with children from other countries who have been exposed to family members who have brought in diseases from other areas? First 8 years attended a rural 1 room school house and every child was from a family that had been in the area for years or in our case for generations. That said without polio vaccine one of the students got polio and spent rest of life in iron lung. Had measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, pneumonia, tularemia, rheumatic fever , rheumatoid fever, and the flu nearly every year as a child as vaccines were not available, other children I knew had polio, scarlet fever, TB, undulant fever,etc so I can testify that things are a lot better with the vaccines we now have and that those who don't get them are just gambling that the herd immunity will save them. Rotavirus and hepatitis were nearly unknown diseases at that time but different types of food poisoning were all to common .

    Mine too. I talked about this with a guy who joined the Marine Corps when I was learning to walk. We've both been retired for decades, and still get every new vaccine that's available. He says he's hoping if he gets everything they can stick him with they'll eventually combine to protect him from something they haven't even discovered yet. Maybe it's a Marine thing, but that logic works for me.[boozingbuddies]

    Yup, I know and have known those now dead that died due to a lack of vaccine meds, also a family that has shingles of which I would not wish that on anything. Friend's Dad who died in his Iron Lung and on. No Flu for years since Boot Camp and the vaccine, and pneumonia in both lungs almost killed me on time, now vaccine provides protection and a friend with Heart Transplant who missed his vaccine and is still in the hospital.

    Move Over, Where's the SHOT Line???

    I had the very painful shingles several times a year. Got the shingle shot and no outbreak since the shot three years ago. I always carried my hard copy shot record. Saved me from being shot up on two deployments.

    And you have to wonder how there are so many autistic children now, I'm betting on the vaccinations. When I was a kid in the 60's and 70's I only knew one person that was so called hyper active. Nowadays kids with problems that were not around then are common.

    Only get tetanus shots now and nothing else. Last flu shot in 1999 had me sick for 3 days, none since and have not had the flu since then. Neighbor got the shingles shot and a year later got it anyway. Don't trust them at all and not falling for their BS about needing it.

    Some of the autism “epidemic” is over diagnosis. Everyone wants their kids labled so they get that free money or get to feel special for having a special needs child, or both. Another is genetics. If your computer nerds with austistc tendencies didn’t used to get to breed before but do now they carry those genes. Autism runs in my family. It ran in my family before it was cool.

    I'm not ready to attribute autism to reduced paddling, but I wouldn't be too surprised to find that it would benefit some ADHD sufferers by helping them with self control. Not all, but some.

    Being a very active Boy often netted me a special seat behind the Teacher's desk.
    Until they left me alone and let me and another Boy play Chess while taking the Friday Spelling Test.

    I can say with very PROVABLE Research, that Autism is NOT directly caused by Vaccinations... First it was the Mercury Compound used as a preservative in the vaccines, but that hasn't been used in the USA for DECADES... Then they said it was the Vaccine itself, but there never has been a Peer Review Scientific Study that showed a Causal Relationship between the two... Except the Original Study done in the UK, where the Researcher falsified his Data, was caught, Lost his Medical License, and his work throughly DeBunked, by his Peers and follow on Research... The Myth is perpetuated by Whackos on the Internet, and if you actually talk to these Yahoos, and pin them down on what they are using for Data, and Information, they ALL lead to the same Whackos, and the original DeBunked Study... It is ALL BS HOWGWash...
    I have a Grandson, who was diagnosed at 18 months... hIs Mom was told that this kid would be a Football Helmet HeadBanger, and likely be institutionalized by age 6... She got busy and learned everything that was available about the subject. Found a Set of Researchers at the University of Washington, that had a Program for these kids.. ABA took 40 hours a week from the time he was diagnosed, until he entered School at 5 years old. She and GrandMa did the work, themselves... He entered school as a Special Ed Kid, with an inRoom Aid until 3rd Grade, and just a Special Ed Student thru Grade School... Her son Graduated from Jr. College with an Associates Degree, two years ago and will be getting a 4 year Degree next year... Yes, he still is Autistic... and Socially slow, but he now has a GirlFriend, and worked at WallMart while in College, as a Greater at the Door, which helped him work on his social interactions...
    His Mom, had to FIGHT the School district every Step of the way, and learned everything that the Federal and State Statutes required School Districts to do for these kids, and held their "Feet to the Fire" for her son, to the point she became the "GoTo" Person for parents just starting out with the issue... She was Appointed to the Alaska Governors Council on Special Education by three successive Administrations and was Legislative Chair, before they moved to Austin Texas.... There she went back to school, and is six months from a PHD in Clinical Psycology, with a Special Expertise in Autism and is a ABA Instructor & Trainer with a Texas State License to Practice with Kids.
    An Autism Diagnosis is NOT a Death Sentence for a family, like it used to be, and there ARE Programs, that DO work, to help these kids become just like regular Folks...

    Son was classified as slow and handicapped with special needs.
    I certainly agreed with part of that as I was the one who insisted he needed early help in a Texas school. At little more than 4 he boarded the Yellow Bus one morning, I was there as the Bus, containing only the Driver and our Son moved out, and I felt he was on his way to being successful but knew this would be more of a fight than the School Officials could know but would soon find out.
    We attended every planned meeting and some drop ins at the school.
    Our main reason for placing him in a special ed class was a lack of speech ability and a need of interaction with others. He was in special ed until he was 6 when a committee made the decision to keep him in special ed. I balked and simply stated he would be main streamed into the 1st grade. I did state that a speech session was fine but this should not have him removed from his peers.

    They revolted at my statement when I said they were making him a ward of the state and that he would never make anything of him self unless challenged. I replied he was out of the special ed classes. If he failed we would talk after his year in the 1st Grade.

    He went on and completed all grades in sequence.
    He served and completed one of the most arduous billets in the US Mil, went on to TEXAS A&M but after one year found himself in too much debt. He left University and became a Contractor in Iraq for 20 months, thanks to skills learned in the Mil. He Paid off school loans,bought a home and finished University.
    Our son now owns a part of a successful company that has clients we all know and use. Happily married and with a carbon copy of himself.

    I am proud of our son and happy I pushed him out of the mould others wanted to keep him in.
    Never give up and release your child to the Specialist you as a parent have the ultimate responsibility to protect and serve your kids, be they blood or adopted.
