Go to www.youtube.com,

Type Police Brutality into the search box,

Watch as many videos as you can stomach,

That's it.

Oh yeah, most people will fall into 2 camps.

1 guy will be disgusted at the examples of Police Brutality that were performed on non-resisting or complying individuals.

The other guy will figure that the dumb nig*** had it coming and they should have busted his skull in two and saved us one more person on the welfare dole.

I tend to think along the lines of this guy. and John Ross. I know longer trust any aspect of the .Gov that is supposed to be my servant.

Martin Niemoeller

The Failure to Speak Up Against the Nazis

This quotation is often cited incorrectly. The exact phrasing was supplied by Sibylle Sarah Niemoeller von Sell, Martin Niemoeller's wife. The remark was made in reply to a student's question, "How could it happen?"

“First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.”

Seeing that quote today reminds me of the Barenaked Ladies song...."Everything old is new again"

I had that quote on a T Shirt in the early 70's...along with "Celebrate Freedom: Read a Banned Book"....and many others...

seems I was bucking the system and finding flaws from when I was about 14 on.....and ended up living in a communal home before I was 20....Actually, some good memories from back then...A lot around us failed ; but we had a great system for chores, duties, etc..... and good people....We all just kind of drifted away as we bought in to the American Dream...a husband, a home, the new car, etc... and fight from within the system.....

like I said....

Everything old, is new again.....would love to end up living like that again...

Thanks melbo, for bringing that up today...

If things continue the way they are, you very well may get your wish.

ps... You lived in a commune? Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a real hippy here! ;)

That's awesome :)

You need to make a posting about it..... how it worked, the good and the bad, your views on it then as compared to looking back on it now.

Eric
I see it as no 2 ways about it.
There is no black or white issue with Police brutality.
There will be some, and there will be some tactics that need a strong arm.
When an officer brutalizes for no reason at all, he should be taken to court and thrown in Jail.
But when dealing with resisting people they should be able to take them down.
Again there will be too much, or not enough, it has to be looked at by a case by case not grouped as whole.
How hard is it to put your hands behind your back when asked?

I have no problems with that QS. It's the cases of those who ARE complying that still get punched, clubbed, broken arms, peper sprayed, or tazed that piss me off.

THAT is what I am seeing more and more these days.

The Taser is being used before it needs to be and then the chief LEO defends the usage with "They were afraid for their lives". The Police State is growing around us and I'm getting a little more ticked off about it.

The other night after a UT footballgame, a bike cop came up behind my wife, my baby and me. He started to put his gloved hand on my 9 month olds head. He did it again and again getting a little rougher each time. He was also standing within 10" pf our faces. He may have been fine but I was getting a little nervous because I knew he had just worked a 14 hour day controlling the game day tailgaters and drunks. As a law abiding citizen trying to grab a burger with my family, I shouldn't have been afraid of a cop. I was.

Everything is an individual case. I understand that. I just don't want to see abuse.

Yea good point Eric.
I would have told him hands off after the first one.
I guess out west here it is a different world. I have never been afraid of a police officer out here, they are more than friendly, occasionally we will get a new one from Kali or Portland and they are a little excitable for the first few weeks. But mellow out after a short time.
I understand what you are saying about a Police State.
So far from the videos I have watched nothing stands out to me as unprovoked attacks, its so hard to say by watching a video, you only get to see one small section from one point of view.
Most of them are being arrested in crack alley or prostitution lane…. way late at night, If I didn’t like the way things were done I damns sure wouldn’t be hanging out in those places at night .

The fact remains that the U.S. is in fact a police state, and there are far too many "criminals" behind bars in the prison system business.

I think that the actions speak volumes. I live in Europe now, and HOLY COW what a difference. I can actually DRIVE my car without worrying about constantly being pulled over and ticketed. In fact, i have lived here in Germany for a year now, guess what? not one single police car stationed along the autobahns. they don't NEED to fine the people and arrest them.

The American system is just a fascist police state, I am sorry.

I'm afraid I can't disagree much there anymore.

Most police officers view anyone not in uniform as the enemy rather than the public they are supposed to serve.

I've been a peace officer for the city of Louisville and a corrections officer for the state of Indiana, and I can say without a doubt, from what I've seen and even been involved in, it's true. Even with my past (or maybe because of my experience) I don't trust cops. There may be a few good ones, but they are outnumbered at this point by the bad or borderline ones, and they have too much power and too much attitude.

It's sad.

A few years ago I would have scoffed at police being so cruel and egotistic. Then my sister's ex-husband pulled some outrageous "paybacks" in "the name of the law" -- he had 6 or 7 "witnesses" (his police buddies).

With a societal breakdown, these things are inevitable. Police have to deal with a huge number of people that just want their next meth fix, not to mention the illegals getting rich selling the junk. Since there's no punishment for crime, they're right back on the street.

Then the police have to deal with the self-absorbtion and pandering from the media building their collective ego well beyond all reasonableness.

But society without morals breeds a continual downward spiral. Take the Left's obsession with disciplining children -- sometimes they'll take your child away. Perhaps their agenda is the corruption of society.

I like the following that displays how easy it is for people to raise thieves, killers, and rapists:

Morals without God's Word are just preferences.

Very true. What is perhaps the most disparaging, is the fact that the average corrections officer and policeman are considered to be expendable. As the police state unrolls, the averages for dissent will rise, and in order to keep the civilian populace in check, the gestapo is unleashed. By constant and unrelenting pressure, and with the show of force, our "protectors" have undoubtedly become the boots for the tyrant.

There are a lot of decent law enforcement officers out there. Unfortunately, they belong to a special order, one which receives its commands from the top down, and the civilians are left trembling in fear, instead of keeping their public servants in check.

I guess we are just lucky here the deputies are nothing short of humble. The last one I dealt with told me I work for you and my job is to do what you want me to. (or something to that effect) The last HWY Patrolman I dealt with, my truck was broke down on the side of the road and he was on his way home but stopped to see if I needed him to call a tow truck. After he did he told me to come sit in the car because it was cold out and he stayed there untill the tow truck driver came. He never asked to see my liesene or insurance. We just sat there B.S.ing untill the tow truck came. All on his off time. Don't get me wrong I know there are bad cops out there I just haven't seen any localy, which I'm very glad of.

OGM

BTW If a cop was being rough with my child he better go for his tazer.
