This from the Lib State that is afraid of Guns, but they kill our vets with neglect. Forget the PP Nursing Home. Just prop me up at the lake with a fishing pole. VA Cuts Off Assisted Living Home After Finding Veteran Dead for 4 Days
The VA has been a disgrace in the past. Supposedly being sorted out, but clearly is not yet there for us.
I will give the VA a pass on this one.. With the little information provided, I the sense that this assisted living center was not controlled by the VA but billed for services by the assisted living home.. I have no knowledge of the state regulations for Commiland, but, I do know that some states do not require constant nursing presence just CNA's present at all times. An nurse would visit the assisted living center daily to check on residents or contact the md's office. Reading the article leads me to believe the assisted living center may have been negligent? Or the nurse??
Exactly. My comments were aimed at the institution taking care of the vets. At least they had the VA to intervene on their behalf - what about the others who have nobody to stand up for them?
There are resources in each state thats available to families and patients.. Things fall apart when there is no family involvement.. For Vet's, thats where people like HK_User comes in!! We vets need him to help keep them honest..
Thanks for the support. I read the attached report 3 times and it is pretty much a Pity Party of "No Blame", "Not Me" and "Who dun it" as well as "I saw Nothing". VA Cuts Off Assisted Living Home After Finding Veteran Dead for 4 Days I did get involved with one case and I will say with the support of those who care a surprise visit, well not really a surprise, to the facility was made and my time at the trial was minuscule compared to the State of Texas investigators. As noted above a visit must be announced and a problem listed, and if anything is found then it is a clearing house day. Upon my return to the Nursing Home all of the "missing" property was suddenly collected and placed in a empty room for my viewing. High $$ lift chair with another patients name was even there, but of course Mom's name was etched on the base. So I didn't just start this process and you have to be solid with your proof and proactive with any thing your approach. Never Ever leave money for services, always pay for your patients extra care with a check and keep all letters and envelopes for a solid paper trail.
