A New Pneumonia | Doom and Bloom (TM) >>> Dr Bones is concerned about a new Chinese breakout - you should be also .... Health authorities in China are reporting 60 cases or more of a previously unknown viral pneumonia that has put dozens in the hospital. Officials note that victims exhibit fever up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit, difficulty breathing, and abnormal findings on chest X-rays Nothing gets my attention like a mysterious, probably viral, pneumonia showing up in some foreign land. In the last decade or so, killers like Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) have entered the scene. The current infection doesn’t seem to be either of these, and lab studies have already eliminated influenza, avian flu, most bacteria, and other possible culprits. A number of victims were found to have attended a seafood market in the area. Edit Post Reply Reply With Quote
Probably just a bug that got loose from a weaponized experiment... ...move along, nothing to see here... The Chinese government has no qualms about how they test their weapons. It really wouldn't surprise me to discover this is what happened...and has happened before.
any of that crossover from animal to human perks my ears up >>>> it rarely is on the normal strain side of things ...
Saw something today that said it was a mutant of SARs. I'm a FEMA instructor trainer. Nothing will shut down a state faster than a pandemic. Something like that hits your community, you have maybe 3-5 days before grocery stores are empty and your town runs out of water treatment chemicals. (Thanks to the just in time delivery model). I have masks, shoe covers, disposable suits, gloves and UV sterilizers that I'd use out in public. (The UV for surfaces I might have to touch like car doors and anything I'd pick up shopping while there was stuff to shop for). Got those after doing some Avian Flu planning. What most folks don't think about is with any pandemic, you will lose a significant portion of the work force who just don't show up to work, being ill, or just afraid. That includes police, firefighters, public works folks, telephone and cable repairmen. Things can break down pretty fast when that happens.
***** UPDATE ***** >>>> 1st deaths are being reported as this bug spreads >Lethal SARS-linked coronavirus claims first life as China’s pneumonia outbreak infects dozens
the state borders are individually enforceable - in some cases with a natural pinchpoint the major accesses can be closed by a couple of state troopers within minutes of a governor saying "Go" ... why I always preach dual prepping and not just bug out >>> a bug out just might not be possible - travel is going to be one of the very first restrictions imposed in a pandemic ....
CDC confirms first US case of Wuhan coronavirus - CNN CDC confirms first US case of Wuhan coronavirus The United States has its first confirmed case of a new virus that appeared in Wuhan, China, last month, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Tuesday. The virus has already sickened hundreds and killed six people in Asia. The male patient is in isolation at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington. He is a resident of Snohomish County in Washington.
Things are getting interesting! It's amazing how much things can change in just a few days...the Wuhan Flu has cropped up in several countries, including the USA, and a report on Fox News today reported that the situation in China is worse than reported and getting worse by the hour. The report is that there are over 1000 cases and that about 100 are dead, and China has quarantined the city of Wuhan. To make matters worse millions of Chinese are moving around the country for Lunar New Year. As I said, things are getting interesting.
You can just about count on a Communist regime lying about it. The good thing about MD's is you can bet the international community is going to offer help, and if permitted in, we'll get the real word. However, if you don't have any N-95 masks and rubber/vinyl gloves, would recommend stocking up.
Just saw that North Korea has closed its border with China. Gotta admit that I wasn't aware that many people wanted to get into North Korea, but then all it takes is one person.
Surviving Disaster - Pandemic >>> was a TV series a few years back - this 40+ minute episode cover a terrorist gas attack on a subway train and then a worldwide flu pandemic >>> worth the time if you haven't watched it previous
