It. was 12f this morning, and the WoodPile in the MudRoom was getting low... So we fired up the Rhino, and drug the Traco Bucket back to the WoodShed... Loaded it up with dry Firewood, and then cleared a path from the Woodshed to the front door, thru about 10” of frozen, what was wet, snow... It was all the Rhino could do even in 4 Wheel Drive, to pull. the load, about 30 feet, and then because we overloaded the Traco Bucket, we had to unload about a third of the load, before we could pull the Traco into the Mud Room, to finish unloading it... Now we gots enough for three more days of COLD Wx.. C0D72B0D-659E-4C73-89F4-4908EECE6754. 2EB208FD-7A00-4088-A5AA-0F8934C82A3A.
The Traco is upside down on the back of the Snowmobile in the first Picture... The second picture is the WoodPile in the Mud Room...

This winter has been fairly warm in my area. We normally expect 2 weeks with -10F to -20F temps, but so far I dont think it has gotten below zero at all.

Well living here has it’s many rewards, and also has it’s issues and disappointments.. This morning, just after I had parked the Rhino in it’s Garage (20’ Conex) and went to split up some kidelling.. While I was busy doing that, after about 30 minutes, I happened to glance at the garage, and the Rhino had caught fire and was burning.. Grabbed the Fire Extinguisher from the Mud Room, and yelled at AlaskaChick, “FIRE” and went to try and save it... Alas it had a full tank of Gasoline, and was fully involved... The heat was terrible, and the smoke & fumes from the tires and plastic, choking. The Rhino is a Total Loss, as is the 3Kw Generator from the new Place, that AlaskaChick had brought down, and had just done to an Oil Change on...Life does throw curves at us, on occasion, but it is what it is... 855F3309-FC1C-4796-AD4E-98D9F7AF4FB6.

Yep, we depended on that Rig for a lot... So some kind of replacement will be needed, butgetting it here will need to wait till the first Barge, this spring...

OMG!! That just sucks.... And, makes trips to the woodshed more difficult. Glad no one was hurt, but sorry for the loss of the Rhino. Is the container salvageable?

Nothing quite like the heart sinking feeling followed by the adrenaline rush when we see smoke coming from somewhere it shouldn't. Sorry for your luck BT.

Holy cow! Glad that fire was contained by you and Mrs. BT by the tools you had immediately at hand. Life does indeed throw a few curve balls at us, but with a quick adjustment a batter can hit a hanging curve out of the park. Sour lemons now; lemonade later. Sincere best wishes for your progress in adapting. Looking forward to reading how you handle the set back with your ingenuity and local resources for the short term (and long term later).

    Holy wah! That sucks.
I'm glad it was contained and didn't take out any surrounding structures .. like the house or the power shed.

I wonder if slamming the doors shut would have starved the fire faster or might of been to late for that perhaps?

If the Conex wasn’t as old as it is, and if i could have closed the doors, which I could not, because the doors were folded back, between the two Conexes stacked close together....
