There is a place out here that salvages the old city bus's and they still have some of the 1990's GMC coaches with the Cummins engines and HD allison automatic transmitions! These would be the very best to build from, they only did a hand full with the Cummins, the rest had Detroit Diesel 6V-92 2 strokes, which are ok, but loud and not very fuel efficient!

I was traveling down the interstate the other day,, looked in the rear view and saw a Freightliner hammered down gaining on me pretty good. I mashed on it a little so as not to slow him down and not to get stuck behind slower traffic myself. I could see in the rear view that it wasn’t your average tractor trailer. I eased on up to about 80+,, and he was still gaining on me. As he got closer I moved over so he could continue on,, when he passed,, I fell in behind him, and mashed on it to keep up with him. Turned out it was made into an RV. I’m guessing it was around a 40 foot long straight truck, big ole box on the back,, with a pretty good sized slide out on both sides. I followed the guy as best I could for about 20 miles,, I was running 90+ a few times and he was still walking away. He was weaving , and dodging slow ass road hogs like he was in a Prius. Sure would be kinda nice to have the money to put into a toy like that.

Not yet. Every part including internals and castings are available aftermarket both domestic and import and will be for a LONG time to come. Last I ordered a couple years ago were a set of cam followers and cam with gasket sets for a 6-71 and the fit and finish were better than stock oem. Too many millions out there still in service on and off road world wide. Two crescent wrenches and a hammer to overhaul one says those screamin' demons ain't going away anytime soon.

Not to mention the Mil. Still has thousands of them in service all over the world, from fire pumps to aircraft ground power, to marine use, mobile power source, ECT.....
I still get new and after market parts easy enough that G.M can pound sand!
