Now might be the time to buy a silencer or silencers

I was poking around on gunbroker and it looks like silencer prices are about the only thibg coming down in price.
Everyone is putting everything on gunbroker, including silencers, but supply appears to be exceeding demand by a lot.
Everything else is selling quick and high.
Stuff is high enough to make me sell some shit.
One example is "defensive shot gun barrels" most of my shot guns have multiple barrels if the barrel can be changed easy. I saw a shot gun barrel that normally sells for $160 to $200 go for nearly $500 yesterday. That's almost enough to buy 2 of the host shotguns under normal circumstances.
If you can't let a few go with prices like this you're crazy. I'm not saying sell everything, For example I only have four 12 gauge shot guns, most people on here would probably consider that low, but why not render 1 non functional to fund upgrades and new equipment later on?
Then when prices return to normal I will buy a new barrel and pocket the difference, or...
I'm thinking buy a new barrel for that gun and a 12 gauge choke reaming and threading kit which runs about $350, then ream and thread all my 12ga shot gun barrels for chokes and if a barrel gets damaged in the future I will be able to repair it well beyond just chopping it off if one is damaged near the muzzle.
Then my sawed off 14 inch barrel shotgun can be threaded for a choke and can accept door breaching attachments, chokes, like an inverted cylinder to spread shot even faster than a cylinder bore, or in a worst case scenario it can accept a full choke incase some how I end up with that being my only shot gun and can potentially use it hunting.
In a less mad max scenario maybe start selling defensive shot gun barrels with chokes that don't normally have chokes.

 

I bought my self a silencerCo osprey 9mm SU17. It's an inch shorter and about 10% lighter than the "45 osprey".
$581 new, with shipping and sales tax.
It's not serviceable so I will be firing clean loads, no cheap ammo, probably shoot it wet as much as possible.

I picked up a Gemtech One .30cal suppressor on gunbroker for $305 last January. It was preowned and only had the quickmount attachment, but I already have one of the exact model that cost $1400 new. Since I already had several quickmounts and the treadmount attachment, it makes a great addition at a low price. I'm pretty sure it was a estate collection as there were several firearms items of similar nature and quality being auctioned off at the same time.

 

Get something made by value can / rebel.
You can find great deals on used cans.
For an AR get something that can be taken apart and don't over suppress the gun. For an AR the simpler a can is the better.

 

At first it was isolated reports on 6 or 7 month turnaround on silencershop form 4s and then I got one back.
Then I searched around there are more of them.
With all the price cutting of silencers on the market there must be a decrease in the unending tsunami of silencers hitting the NFA 7 days a week.

When the plandemic kicked off I got an osprey 9mm shipped to NFA jail for under $700.
Now I'm seeing osprey 45s for around $550 to $650
9mm ospreys are back over 700.

 

Is 14 of them enough?

I finally got my osprey9 which is a recoil boosted silencer. I tried it with factory standard 115gr ammo, runs great. I tried some altor powder puff loads where I took the 115gr start load for WST and put it under a 90gr bullet, also that load is real close to the WST 90gr load for 380acp, still cycled the Beretta.
So seems like one could cook up some real light loads with real fast burning powders that are really quiet.

I'm used to no moving parts silencers that can only be cycled by brute force, with the hottest 147gr 9mm+p loads.

 

I'm jonesin' for some 300 blkout sub. It's really the only goof I made in preps before last spring's slap down.

 

I have often considered buying a can to protect what hearing I have left, but am worried that just when I really need it, the feds will start confiscation . Then, I would be out a lot of money (for me) and have nothing. I also don’t like the idea of getting something I am not allowed to disassemble and clean/rebuild

There have been 2 confirmed silencer murders over the last 10 years.

 

Yeah looks like the ospreys are back to normal pre-plandemic prices and then some.
I thought about getting a second full size 45 osprey, not for 800+ when I already have the short one.

 

Alright I finally got my 45 osprey.
At least 4 months to do the dealer to dealer (part of that was the FFL was being transferred to new ownership) and then standard 11 months wait on the form 4 transfer.

 

Seems like it makes sense to have one in the ATF pipeline at all times.

 

anybody know of a way to get a good quality (I can't find ANY quality) threaded barrel for a .40 S&W Walther P99 (original variety, before they printed AS on the side although that's what it is). I can't find any barrel at all for .40, only 9mm.
And while I'm asking the right people, can you tell me why anybody would choose to suppress 9mm over .40? I know .45 is preferred but it seems to me .40 is better in all respects too.

 

40cal silencers are harder to find.
9mm and 45 are everywhere.
