Off of survival and politics for a minute. I loved pinball machines from a young age. My fondest memories are of my dad taking me to the "Stucco House" for a choc-cola and some pinball. And I progressed from there. I was a young teen in the golden age of the video arcade, then we got an Atari system, and I just kinda never stopped loving those old games. Anybody Else? If you do love old games, you may not have heard of "emulation". This is where your computer "pretends" to be old hardware (like a pacman machine or an atari) so the original software program will run on your computer just like it did on the original machine. Basically, you can play just about ANY old game from your childhood by using an emulator. And they are FREE! Arcade Games - Any of 'em. I also (a long time ago) paid 600 bucks for a custom made arcade cabinet control panel for my arcade game emulators. It's got a spinner for games like "Tempest" and a trackball for games like "Centipede", and it even has pinball buttons on the side. I was thinking your underlined words (above) were just links that I could click on, pick my favorite game from a list and play. No-can-do! So... I googled centipede emulator, and came up with something that has lots of links, but still no game to play. You're just teasing me, right? (I've never tried Yoo-Hoo.)

It stands for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, and it's the program that will run over 4000 different games all by itself. You just need a seperate small bit of software called a "rom" for whatever game you want to play ( pm me an email and I'll hook you up for that). It's not difficult, I promise. It's gettin late though, If I go on to bed, I'll get to you tomorrow and you'll be playing centipede, frogger, pacman, whatever you want. Re: Other Arcade kids? Game Lovers, Pinball, Atari, anything Quick legal notice....... The emulators are 100% legal, but to use a games "rom" image legally you must own a copy of that game. Same deal as with music mp3 files, you must own the original to legally use the copy.

Been playing video games since the Atari and Commodore 64 came out. I can remember playing pinball and video games at the arcades for hours. We would play Asteroids, Centipede and Space Invaders on one quarter for quite sometime, damn I'm dating myself. Boy those were the days, life was so much simpler then. I have owned just about every video game platform ever marketed; Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, Playstation and Playstation 2. I've given away all the above except the Playstation 2. Once the Playstation 3 comes down to a reasonable price I'll purchase it, I can't justify $600 on a video gaming system. Some of the first person games are better on a PC; Halflife, Unreal Tournament, Ghost Recon. Yeah, I've been a video game junkie for quite sometime.
Re: Other Arcade kids? Game Lovers, Pinball, Atari, anything I still have my old Atari 800, Atari 65XE and Commodore 64 machines, along with lots of software. I still play some of the games occasionally. I did get a download package awhile back with 80 Atari classics, to run on my PC. The problem is, they often don't work well using a mouse! There is simply no substitute for a good joystick! I do have the old SEGA and early Nintendo machines too, but have few games for them. I simply couldn't justify the cost of the newer game systems!
