Early on I canceled and rearranged a VA visit. I am a Heart, Diabetes and soon to be a listed as yet another Agent Orange condition. So I stay up to date on meds with both private and Va Docs. In this I do extensive research on a diagnose of my health and have bucked the VA on more than one occasion, (This is all good information on how to convince the VA to help others as well as myself.) Most notable to me was a head to head C&P exam that concerns my Heart condition. Now it was a medical fact I had said problem and I was just trying expand the V system's acceptance of the most current information and thus help others who might be in need of a C&P Exam to improve their life.
I had contacted a known researcher of national standing to request permission to forward his White Paper to my Docs and offered to purchase his report. The Doc sent a signed scan of his letter of permission and the full Document via email and declined all suggestions of payment and a full release that I use it for any and all conditions and needs as I determined to be for Vets.
The C&P came and went, the VA Doc was floored as I presented her with the now published report and an addemum of recent research discoveries. To say she was speechless is an understatement since she had already made her decision in print and had it ready at our first meeting. Ahh but y'all know how things go the coin was cast and she was a VA Doc receiving her 20 pieces of silver each payday. So I was denied.
Not one to be easily refused the denial phase gave me a right to reapply with "new information" a VA Law.

I did reapply and my appeal and the document was and is part of a legal decision found on line.

Never give up and always understand the VA is a group mostly Docs who must follow their Administrators unless provided the proof positive in hard copy and a legal decision.

About a year later the rules were changed.

Me? Well I was happy and the decision did not add even 1% to my benefits but it did help others and that was my intent to start.

Never give an inch and never give up.

So soon I get to visit my local VA and be examined as a yearly standard. If lucky I can send them my most current records and avoid the trip and do a phone exam.

My current assigned VA Doc? A very intelligent, compassionate and flexible Doc.

That is the VA game, if you want to win you gotta pay the lumberjacks to cut down more trees to send to the paper companies.
