Usually the social message is much more important than whatever they are supposedly trying to sell! If a joke doesn't make me laugh, it isn't funny. If a commercial doesn't make me want to buy something, it isn't a commercial.
Most do not know of the good old days of the Ford/Ferrari speed and money days where millions of corporate money was spent on winning the Trifecta of Racing. https://www.motortrend.com/news/how-ford-beat-ferrari-at-the-1966-42-hours-of-le-mans/ Truly a lost cause which got more free advertisement than anyone would expect. Now that was a real stimulates package for America.
Subaru commercials truly make me barf. I’ll never buy one for that reason alone. I’ll stick with Honda. God bless em.
I categorically refuse to buy any Chevy product after that travesty of commercials with "real people" not actors. Vomit on a stale biscuit.
I miss those Nissan commercials..... "Dogs love trucks!" Hehe..... Always reminded me of my late Dad's last two dogs. Where ever the truck went, they went!
When I lived in Boise I always got a chuckle every time I drove past Fairly Reliable Bob's used cars.
Honest advertising at it's best. As a kid we had a typical "Honest Dave's Car Lot" a friend came by one day and complained to dad about his purchase and the ever increasing noise from the rear end. Dad put it up on the lift and ran it a bit. stopped it, dropped the Pumpkin cover and out fell grease covered saw dust. Enough said, Honest Dave sent a wrecker the next day as he was too beat up by the owner to come himself. Small town TEXAS at it's best. Not that I advocate physical violence!
