Change.org has taken down a petition calling for the removal of Cambridge professor Priyamvada Gopal, who tweeted “White Lives Don’t Matter. As white lives.”

She has gone on in her twitter feed to defend her actions saying that “whiteness should not be the basis on which lives are give value.”

At 2hrs 40mins. Very clearly explained why whiteness should not be the basis on which lives are given value. Aasmah Mir and Stig Abell with Times Radio Breakfast | Times Radio | The Times and The Sunday Times

    — Priyamvada Gopal (@PriyamvadaGopal) June 29, 2020

According to Breitbart.com, Gopal was given a promotion after the tweet.

Her tweet appears to be in response to a banner by Burnely Football Club supporter, Jake Hepple, reading, “White Lives Matter.” This banner was in response to a stabbing in Manchester, England that left three white people dead.

Hepple was fired for his actions while Gopal was promoted for hers. She also states in her twitter bio that she is the author of Insurgent Empire: Anticolonial Resistance & British Dissent. It appears that Hepple’s girlfriend was also fired from her job.

In this age of political correctness run amuck, it appears that it is hate speech to either disparage a person of color or defend a white person.

That certainly reverses the dreams of Martin Luther King Jr., the famous civil rights advocate, who said:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

Gopal spoke with The Guardian and told them that her tweets weren’t attacking white people, but rather “the societal structure that presumes the superiority of white people.”

She also said some people “misunderstood” what she said, and others used it as “a tool.”

"If white people’s lives were to matter because they are white, then we’d be contending that whiteness is what makes lives matter, which amounts to a strong form of white supremacy". Brilliant stuff.Arianne Shahvisi | The Backlash · LRB 27 June 2020?

    — Priyamvada Gopal (@PriyamvadaGopal) June 29, 2020

Gopal said that her tweet regarding white lives not mattering actually meant:

“Whiteness does not qualify someone to have their life matter; the life matters but not the whiteness.

“You cannot oppose Black Lives Matter with ‘white lives matter’ because they are not comparable. Whiteness is already valued but blackness is not.”

Of course, the University spoke out…against those who were offended by her comments.

The University defends the right of its academics to express their own lawful opinions which others might find controversial and deplores in the strongest terms abuse and personal attacks. These attacks are totally unacceptable and must cease.

    — Cambridge University (@Cambridge_Uni) June 24, 2020

A spokesperson for the school said:

“As well as the university’s ongoing access work to increase diversity in its student intake, Cambridge … is working to address racial inequalities in collaboration with students, academics and professional staff, including the university’s race equality inclusion champions.

“We are aware of the magnitude of the problem and are working on improving our support services for staff and students – recognising, investigating and challenging barriers to recruitment, progression and retention of black, Asian and minority ethnic staff and students.”

This particular instance happened in the United Kingdom, but it is a pattern of behavior not just being condoned but being encouraged throughout the world. Except in China.

In China, the communist government is overtaking Hong Kong, preparing their ballistic missiles and their abilities to launch a first strike EMP attack on the Western World, all while we are embroiled in politically ridiculous discourse trying to judge one race superior to another.

These are the things we should be concerned about. We should be united against this as British and American Citizens. We shouldn’t be running around tearing each other apart because of our heritage and our differences of opinion.

We should be lifting each other up and demanding that these “academics” who’s job it appears to be is defining more victims, should not be funded by government institutions or given a public platform to stoke the fires of identity politics.

Universities and their tenure systems have long held the rights of academics to express their opinions no matter how controversial they are. In 2018 Professor Rhonda Jarrar tweeted hateful things about Barbara Bush, upon Mrs. Bush’s death, and then bragged that “I will never be fired.”

    She hasn’t been.

It’s becoming more and more obvious that some of these people do not want equality. They want superiority over, if not genocide of, those of eastern and western European descent.

They do not want black lives to matter, they want black lives living now to benefit from things their ancestors suffered. They do not want to be judged by the content of their character, they want to be judged as “can do no wrong” by the color of their skin.

The launch page of change.org has been updated and is now touting a petition, the largest one ever on their platform, is the one demanding justice for George Floyd. They link that petition, directly from their launch page.

The entire front page of their launch page is petitions in favor of removing monuments and renaming places. Under the community guidelines on Change.org they say there are committed to free speech.

However, in the case of Professor Gopal, Change.org took down a petition calling for her removal. That doesn’t sound much like free speech. It would appear that Gopal’s right to free speech was the only one that mattered and differing opinions are not welcome.

A quote directly from their community guidelines says:

“Be open to disagreement and listen to other people’s opinions. You might disagree strongly with a petition’s content, but change happens when people with different backgrounds and perspectives can participate in a constructive conversation. As long as it complies with these Community Guidelines, all content, no matter how contentious, is allowed on our platform.”

Apparently they are classifying anything that doesn’t fit their narrative as “Hate Speech” in order to appear tolerant while not being tolerant at all.

Meanwhile, Gopal also said that she is hoping Cambridge will “take the lead” in a race discussion so, she says, “instead of a statement on freedom of speech, actually saying that there is something to be said about a critical look at whiteness.”

Been thinking a lot about this lately and come to the conclusion that in truth - No Lives Matter.

Hell, 99% of us on this planet are peons, serfs of some sort, who do as were told, when we told and exactly how were told. Freedom is just a word, nothing more. They take about 50% of our labor and control us to the point that we can't even protect our lives and property. It's all a ruse, a lie, and were only given enough liberty to make us productive so we can pay the 50% and to control us for fear of losing more liberty. We're used as domestic piggy banks and international cannon fodder in conflicts that have no betterment for the nation or even justification except for market share, financial enhancement and/or political power. And, with the planet population soon not to be able to feed itself as it pushes closer and closer to the tipping point...

If tomorrow's headline said "2 million dead in greatest earthquake ever recorded" it wouldn't affect the day-to-day workings of the world what so ever.

"One death is a tragedy, a million deaths a statistic. - Stalin." No Lives Matter, not really...and they never have.

Morning rant completed...yeah, I do feel a bit better!

I do believe one thing is for certain, this is all coming to a head. A real showdown because it is not going to go away without violence and violence begets more violence and where it will end is a coin toss given all the normal law and order parameters have been discarded. Hell, you might get lynch by an angry crowd and some suave state attorney general say it was perfectly legal and you deserved it. Yeah, I really believe it is coming to a head... When Russia collapse, Putin kept it from falling into the abyss by using the military to systematically murder politicians, gangsters and dissentients to create and hold the government together. It saved Russia but look at the aftermath... Will that happen here? Maybe or maybe not... Who knows?

Furthermore, there is nothing we can do about the coming crisis - nothing - except try to prepare, hope for the best and ride it out. But, in the end, no lives matter and they never have.

It must be sad when you feel inferior to others and demand special treatment. I thought we were all covered under the Constitution?
I am a bit old fashioned about some things. I notice these problems are mostly in cities filled with liberals and minorities with Democrats as leaders. I'm glad I live in the sticks.

My thoughts exactly one of the reasons this is not a US relationship as her reason for her hate for whites but extensive colonialism by UK.

Appearances can be deceptive....I had a Uni Tutor who assumed that one of my fellow students was an Indian (from the sub continent) when in fact the student was of Australian Aboriginal descent...all the Tutor ( a rather pasty looking kiwi) had to do was just ask, instead of making herself look like a prat. Priyamvada Gopal's physical appearance could pass for a number of ethnicities; her name may or may not necessarily demonstrate that she is of Indian descent either...she may have just simply married someone with an Indian name or simply changed her name by deed-poll.

Her spiel is just as understandable as those American 'Indians' who are critical of the palefaces' historical treatment of them during and after white man colonisation.

If you had done your Due Diligence, and just looked her up in Wiki, you would have note that she was born in Delhi, India in 1968, and her Father was an Indian Diplomat... DAH... I mean really Chell, try and keep up...

You referenced her physical appearance in a photographic image.

...why would you say that if you had based your observation on the evidence of her Wiki profile in the first instance, (which does not have any image of Professor Gopal's face at all)....unless you only investigated Gopal's biographic details after the fact of profiling her based on her facial features? I suggest that you hadn't actually done your own due dilligence...before making your comment in post #8

Your post hoc appeal to Wikipedia doesn't save you from your initial superficial assessment of Professor's physiognomy based on the photograph in post #1.

My reply in post #14 was a critique of the practice of making broad generalisations based simply on skin colour, facial physiognomy, or some other defining physical characteristic, as would seem to have been the case in Post #8

Hindsight can be very informative, Bruce, Your point might have been more convincing had you consulted the Wiki article and referenced it before pressing the 'Post Reply' button in post #8

These cities that want to get rid of the cops, I say let them and see what happens. The cops should take a vacation. I don't live in a liberal run shithole so I hardly ever see the cops. People open carry here and everyone is basically very polite.
