This coming weekend, June 27/28, expect to hear a lot of "cq field day" calls on the air. Lots of opportunity for new (and some not so new) amateur radio operators to get familiar with their equipment and become more proficient in operating practices. Even with the covid restrictions in place, I anticipate a bumper crop of qso's. Are you planning on working the bands? Good luck!
Our club is holding it , as usual. Forecast is for rain, we can use the rain, but on this weekend, come on!
We will be around on 14292khz during the day, and on 40 meters before 11:00pm local at nite... AL7AQ & KL7WJ
20 meters sucked up here in northern NY. We had half the contacts we usually get. It took us well over an hour to make our first contact.
Upper Bands were mostly BAD... (10, 15, 18, 20, & 30 Meters) Lower Bands were especially Good @night... (40, 60, 75-80, and 160 meters)
80m was pretty quiet down here, but 40 and 20 were screaming nearly the entire time...did slow down a bit from 3am to 8am local. A few contacts on ten. Didn't hear any AK calls the entire time ETA: stations were spaced about every 250kc in many cases...thank you, inventer of filters and passband tuning! LOL
Had contacts on 40, 20, 10, 6 and 2 Not much return for a lot of dial spinning. Couldn't crack many of the pileups on 20 and 40. No AK here, either.
Our worst showing ever. The 1D stations running power walked over us barefoot guys in the field all day. Tried for AK all day but 20 wasn't having any of it. Was a weird Field Day for sure.
I was only able to work 40m but it worked out well. I made my first HF contact and several others. I think it's my antenna but for now it's just nice to work something other VHF/UHF.
Nah Usually do FD with the base club. With all mask carp they decided just to work from the station. No fun in that ... like shooting fish in a barrel. .. beam + 1 kw
