Been going to Academy lately to stock up on ammo for my 2 new toys. Mostly 30/30 and 20 gauge. Here's where it gets interesting, most rifle pistol and 12g is gone. Some boxes of 243,6.5,3006 but not much of anything else. Pistol ammo is worse, last time I was there all they had was some high dollar 10mm. Heck, even the 25acp was gone! In spite of the latest drought I did leave with 30/30 and 20 gauge ammo. Being a little off the beaten path is not a bad thing.

Guess I will make run to the ammo store and see what the situation is like. They had plenty a couple weeks ago.

I went as long as I could well before the pandemic and prices were low. I knew it would never last. Good luck replenishing your stock, and I hope the tensions diffuse so we can go back to normal

Tensions will defuse, along about October when the Rains return, and soak all these folks, marching around in their summer togs...

our local gun shop, all 9mm, 45, 10mm, 357, 380 etc gone, 556 had 3 cans of 860 rounds, well now they have 2 :) haven't seen 556 for some time, no 223, plenty of all other rifle calibers on the shelf, shotgun shells overstocked, .22 overstocked. Which I find interesting, I live in rural area, hunting is huge in my parts so my guess is in the near future shotgun shells will start moving off the shelf then 30-06 and 30-30 etc the closer we get to deer season. Handgun ammo and 223/556 is just a panic buy, not because anything will happen in my parts at this point just the fact that you might not be able to get it for some time.

I've enough 7.62X54R to sustain practice while the supply chain refills. (No pain, no gain.)

If you reload it seems not to be a problem. It seems that many of the estimated 2.5 million new gun owners from this year alone aren't picking up their brass.
I got 1,000 pieces of 1x fired 9mm brass mailed to my door for $33.
My reloading slave should start sizing/depriming them tomorrow.

Only person to face charges for Las Veges shooting was "illegal ammo manufacturer" who made "armor piercing ammo" I would guess by reloading some steel core pulls. Facing prison time, now if he had just burned down a police station he would of been OK.
Arizona ammo supplier to Las Vegas massacre gunman gets prison time: reports

Time to avoid crowds, stay grey, and to realize that the court system in many areas is totally controlled by the left and justice is the last thing you can expect. Please don't be dead right and lose everything.

Yeah, guns are selling like crazy, when the dealers can get them, but ammo to feed them is another question. Other than rimfire, I think I've only purchased three boxes of rifle ammo in the last fifteen years or so (and no handgun ammo). One of those was because I didn't want to plink with my good stuff, and the other two were for a rifle I'd just purchased in a caliber I didn't have any ammo for.

I've read where 9mm has been so cheap people don't reload for it. Really? $7 and up for 50 rounds in the stores, back a few years ago. I can reload for $2-$2.50 for 50 rounds, and my reloads shoot to the same POI as the factory ammo I have.

Even starting on a new major rifle round can run you about $60 per hundred and that is starting with all new components. Cheaper when you go cast and reuse your brass.
Major .30, when using hard cast with gas checks runs little more than .10 a round.

I want 9mm that does cool stuff.
Like very clean burning 147gr +P hollow points that are subsonic out of a 92fs.
Those can get pretty damn expensive.

I really could use a reload slave! Punching out old primers is terminally mind numbing....

While reloading supplies were still there last week, don't know about now, the organic prepper brings up a good point about everyday prepping. 9 Things to Buy Every Time You Go to the Store - The Organic Prepper How many of us pick up a pound of our favorite powder, or a couple hundred of the primers we use every day and at least rotate in some fresh ones or cover some load that we didn't used to do. 300 Blackout anyone? Or order in a few hundred projectiles or once fired cases?

Some items, toilet paper and paper towels are bulky and a few extra will cover the short run and save your long term storage stuff,. Same with canned goods with a couple years expected life, etc. Do know that I was into my preps the last few months, not deep, but they made life more comfortable.

There are still lots of good deals online. I think tensions will cool this winter, it is no fun to protest in sleet and rain. If Trump wins they may make an exception though.
