At lowes today there was a sign up at all the registers saying you may have to use card because there is a "nation wide change shortage".
So might one of the targeted concepts or ideas to get rid of be the use paper money?
It sure makes it a hell of a lot easier to track what you're buying and where you're going when you have to use a card for everything.

I rare use cash at places like Lowe's (and I buy quite a bit there) because I get couple percent off using my card (Amazon Visa). That combined with the 10% veteran discount makes Lowes one of my favorite places. I spend cash at places that do discount or up charge if you use a card.

No problem with jing in this part of the world. I've heard stories of coin hoarding, but no one I know has seen it.

Hell no. Gold is almost up to a 9 year high.
Wait a few years and you can get them for $11,000 to $14,000.
When gold is high and everyone is going nut absolutely do not buy it.
It could be another 9 years before it's worth more than $1,800 an ounce.
Those people are smart they are a selling at just about the perfect time.

Been seeing those here as well. Due to national coin shortage we ask that you use exact change when paying with cash. Home Depot, Dollar Tree, and the grocery store all had them. I didn't ask.

Around here pennies are in short supply. Most customers don't want 4 pennies, so I would just give them a nickel instead. We might come up a dollar short at the end of the day, if that, because a lot of people tell you to keep the change.

Just a few years back there was a video of a guy trying to pay his mortgage and the bank disallowed the cash.
Just a while before that one of the states had banned cash to stem off the rash of thefts and yard sales. (People stealing the copper pipe and wire out of homes. )

Copper theft was reduced in Texas with a rash of electrocuted thieves, burnt bodies on the 5 o'clock news and the requirement that all reclamation centers record purchases, much the same as Pawn Shops must do.

That is a fair price for the times. I don't think any coin dealer will beat it, especially the all 10 price.

I disagree with Oilpan.....nothing wrong with alloy coinage, and Kruggerands are one of the world's best know gold coin. Gold is gold.....doesn't make a lick of difference if coin or bar.

I also disagree with the notion gold will take a huge dip in price....maybe a small dip for a short period, but nothing like he says. The FED and the rest of the central banks are simply on a course of money printing that they can't stop now. And a couple of the former bullion banks (HBSC and Scottia) that were big in shorting gold have now dropped completely out of the gold market completely due to huge losses.....that lessens the paper short sales that used to drive prices down.

    2 different issues there.
Once debt has been created, the debtor has the option of using cash (legal tender) to settle the debt. Supreme court decided this in Juilliard v Greenman (among other cases) 'THE LEGAL-TENDER CASES.' JUILLIARD v. GREENMAN.

They holder of the debt may not LIKE to take cash, but they have to by law.

The other issue is: Does a person or business HAVE to take cash for a sale or purchase ?
No....because no debt has been created at this point....one party or the other is stating up front the terms of the exchange. Don't like it, don't do the deal. This is how a business can put up a sign "No large bills" and be completely legal. Or "no checks", or "We don't take cash"....or "We only accept white leghorn chickens in payment" :D

I don't use cash anymore. I use Credit card or a Debit card and sometimes a Check. I only use the Debit card where they have a chip reader, no more of that swiping crap and if I must swipe I then use the Credit card. And, I never use the Debit card for online purchases. The Credit Card at least gives you a bit of a grace period before you pay it so you can see if there are any mysterious/questionable charges as opposed to the Debit card.

Having said that, I do keep cash handy, an emergency fund in case I run into a really good deal or the world goes to hell in a handbasket...which seems to be coming closer day by day. In fact, given the state of affairs, I should increase that fund.

A cashless society means no cash.... Zero!!! It doesn’t mean mostly cashless and you can still use a ‘wee bit of cash here & there’. Cashless means fully digital, fully traceable, fully controlled. I think those who support a cashless society aren’t fully aware of what they are asking for. A cashless society means:

    * Your child can’t go & help the local farmer to earn a bit of cash.
    * No more cash slipped into the hands of a child from their grandparent when going on holidays.
    * No more money in birthday cards.
    * No more piggy banks for your child to collect pocket money & to learn about the value of earning.
    * No more cash for a rainy day fund or for that something special you have been putting $10 a week away for.
    * No more selling bits & pieces from your home that you no longer want/need for a bit of cash in return.
    * No more cash gifts from relatives or loved ones.

What a cashless society does guarantee:

    * Banks have full control of every single cent you own.
    * Every transaction you make is recorded.
    * All your movements & actions are traceable.
    * Access to your money can be blocked at the click of a button when/if banks need ‘clarification’ from you which could take weeks, a hundred questions answered & five hundred passwords.
    * If your transactions are deemed in any way questionable, by those who create the questions, your money will be frozen, ‘for your own good’.

And before anybody slams this post ... don’t go shooting the messenger .. I’m sharing it because maybe we all need to take off our blinkers. Forget about cash being dirty. Cash has been around for a very, very long time & it gives you control over how you trade with the world. It gives you independence.

If you are a customer, pay with cash. If you are a shop owner, remove those ridiculous signs that ask people to pay by card. Cash is a legal tender, it is our right to pay with cash. Banks are making it increasingly difficult to lodge cash & that has nothing to do with a virus.

Please stop believing everything you hear on the TV. Almost every single topic in today’s world is tainted with corruption & hidden agendas. Politics & greed is what is wrong with the world; not those who are trying to alert you to the reality.

Please pay with cash & please say NO to a cashless society while you still have a choice.
