I might get a little rain off it, as I am on the Gulf Side. Luckily, up through September most Atlantic 'Canes tend to roll up the Atlantic coast rather than cross into the Gulf to threaten my AO.
A bit more detailed explanation. How to "flash" a generator when output is lost due to loss of excitation Now back to your regularly scheduled hurricane thread ---
Heat has been building up in the ocean since 2017, all we need is some minor solar storms to set it off.
Current track shows possible landfall between Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach. Hoping it just moves on eastward.
I'm stuck down here on the coast workin . Best I can do is keep my Coleman stove going , pile up a little food and wait it out. Being away from home without all my possessions of endurance,, might make things a little rough. Last one I was in down here wasn't much more than few days of rain and a little wind ,, hopefully this one will be like that one.
I had to do some storm prep gutter surgery. I had fought with this thing enough that sight-unseen I'd predicted it was a kids or dogs rubber ball. Sure enough. Most effective downspout obstruction I've ever had to deal with.
With only a TS on the horizon, and a beautiful hot summer day I took a break from cleaning gutters and cutting limbs. Just chillin' under the sprinkler.
Watching where The Weather Channel "A" Team of James Cantore and Stephanie Abrams are set up is a good indicator of where they are expecting the worst of the storm to hit. Lately, it needs to be a major storm around a Cat 2 minimum to get those two out in the field. It's a bit sporting to see if the Weather Channel gurus placed their "A" Team talent in the best spots for each storm.
Lights here at my AO went out about 10 minutes ago. Right after I got out of the shower. At least I'm fresh for tomorrow. Listening to limbs bouncing off the house. Clean up time tomorrow.
We made it through okay. I fell in the garage and dislocated a shoulder, but I've done that before. Still no power in some areas, but we're good to go. Even had a Sonic coffee this morning.
Sorry to hear about your shoulder , glad to hear everything else is ok. Power was still out at my residence AO ,, pow err re on at my work AO ,, but I dont know how. Part of this island is store up. 1 house , is across the street from the beach,, must have got hit with the storm surge ,, it had a cinder block foundation, and half of the foundation is gone ,, its basically just teetering on what foundation is left. Cars and trucks overturned. I think it was worse than most were expecting. Loss of life was I think 2 in NC. Not good , but could have been worse. Theres plenty of work for anyone willing to do it . Need a job ,,, call me ...
It seems the winds were much more ferocious closer to the beach. I was waiting to be looking up into the night sky a couple times, but they must've sounded worse than they actually were. I do have location on my side at both houses, with higher ground toward the ocean. That puts a lot of wind over us.
