I have been using Linspire 5 for a while, but the music recording is not very good on it. I was wondering if any one was using Ubunta, and if it had a good music program in it? I want to play my guitar into it and record and edit. I can get free downloads from linspire and was wondering which of their programs are good.
I am a long time linux user (writing this on a Ubuntu system). Ubuntu has the Apt repositories that make installing software easy as long as you have a net connection. That said. I thin Audacity would work for that. it does MP3 and Wav pretty well and its free. You should be able to get Audacity for any OS.
I'm always pleased to hear of others using Linux. I'm running Ubuntu on my laptop, but I don't do any music recording, so can't offer much advice on that, but I've seen mention of something called Ardour. You will find that pretty much anything you are using over on Linspire you can find for any Linux distro. I came across an article for setting us a Linux recording studio. The Linux-Based Recording Studio
Linux rocks because hackers don't hit them often. They have an easier time with Microsoft be cause Bill left the Gates open purposely, so your info is public. I might have got it together yesterday by using CNR, a Linspire download site, to get Hydrogen a drum machine, K guitar, which you can play into and it prints notation. Linux MultimediaSystem co-ordinates evry thing. Mp3 player and Rosegarden 4 is also great. The downloads made everything automatic plug-ins, so you pull up L songs and the appropriate program responds. I plugged in my bass into the back of my box, and a digital recorder popped up. This is better Than EMU I had on my old Win 98 SE machine. Linux has finally evolved. Any body want to start a patriot band like Poker Face?
Cool how you worked the clip into the post. Here's the band Linux performing their first album Cowbell. Bill Gates wishes he had a program this good. Debian vs GNU uhmmm...
It would be nice if I could take credit for that but the forum software did it, I just pasted the youtube URL.
