    Question: At what point is it acceptable to disarm a cop? If you didn't put him at risk however were able to stop the bad behavior would you do it or just let him/her taser you?

    In this day and age I have been reluctantly convinced any officer willing to bully is certainly willing to lie on the stand and pressure his buddies to too. call it what you will but;
    Is it better to say yes sir and take a tasing and even piss yourself than try a kungfu disarm; get shot or just convicted for assaulting an "officer" and sent to a hardcore ;,"pound me in the a**" prison where you will piss yourself when bubba slams his not so slick willy home while 4 other miscreants hold you awaiting their turn. in your bloody split rectum?[whipem]hissyfit[whiteflag][own][shiz][do-it]

    Hey mr. blackjack: violent prison rape; myth or not?

    You know every one of these; though an over reaction in my book; the citizen is giving the cop a hard time like the one before this of the utah kid complaining he didn't see the sign and I aint signing no ticket.
    but whats gonna happen is folks are gonna feel pressured to defend themselves; the passengers will start shooting; or just stay locked in the vehicle window up , drive away. cause a bigger mess,its getting well outta' hand. [gone]

    we need to get some laws changed..citizens anti-abuse act for the officers protection.Or it could get nasty for our protectors and servents.

    I'd already classify it as nasty... but you're right, it is likely to get worse.

    I fear this nflict pain first will backfire and cause officer fatalities.

    Tango not sure if I agree that we need laws, I think if they would just train these guys that a taser should not be the first thing deployed we might be a little further along. Any resistance is not reason to taser someone and you might be right but I've been struggling with that question for a long time, fortunately the times I've been stopped the cops have been courteous and maybe the "do unto others" has been working for me but I've been stopped quite a bit because I live in a county where the cops stop for any infraction (or maybe it is just me)....I can't wait to move.

    I think the main thing that needs to be cleared up in the laws on the tasers would be to make sure it is viewed the same as the baton. It basicly is the same thing and just more 'sanitized'. It is a physical assault that normaly is not fatal but dose cause trama to and pain to the body and CAN cause death especialy if overused. Its main difference is increased range and it dosent register in most peoples minds as being as brutal as seeing the baton smack the person. If its made clear in their training AND in court that its the SAME leavel of force as the baton I think a lot of this would end. NO jurry is going to let a cop slide for useing his baton to beat an 80 year old woman because she hit her horn in her driveway but, while they dont like it much, when its 'just a little shock' then its not such a big deal. NO jury is likely to let a cop slide over cracking a guy in the head with a baton for hesitating to hand over a lisence or refuseing to sign a ticket or whatever.

    IF the cop has just cause to arrest the person AND they are resisting to a point that they would need to use a baton then I could see the tasers as a slightly better alternative but it definatly needs to be judged in the same way and not used everytime a guy wants to talk or stay where they are and the 10 cops dont like his failure to comply.
