I have always been interested in these type of cabins but have been unable to find a lot of info on them
Anyone here live in a A frame cabin?
What are the advantage/disadvantages of this type of structure?
Any advice, information, or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to find and watch an old film "into the wilderness" about a guy in Alaska that decided to build then live in a cabin out in the wilderness. Excellent film and it documents how he built the cabin, lived in it, everything. Amazing what the guy did and all with handtools. When he started he was already in his 50's.

I had a school friend that lived in one. Looked small from the outside, but HUGE on the inside.

Our local Scout troop has one at the park.

The book is "One Man's Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey" by Sam Keith from the journals and photographs of Richard Proenneke. ISBN 0-88240-513-6. There's a video made from all the home movie footage Mr. Proenneke took of himself building it back in the late 60s. It was a traditional cabin though, not an A-frame. Still a fascinating story!

The guy lived, alone, until he was in his 80s and finally had to leave. His cabin is now preserved.

A-Frames are very popular around here. I can think of 4 within a 5 mile radius.

My father's brother, wife and 3 children lived in one - his wife is still there. Very spacious and comfortable inside.

A Frames are still around here, one right next to Mom-in-Law, my old boss had a A Frame he added 2 more to each side place is huge

Great if you live in a heavy snow area that's a plus, lots of room on the main level but remember as you move up you will get less room due to the pitch of the roof. Also at some point in your life you will have to put a new roof on that's a lot of shingles.

I think if I was going to go with an A-Frame I'd fill the roof up with solar panels since there is so much roof line
