Looks interesting. I like the Kel-Tec Sub 2K since it can come configured to use Glock 22 mags (which I have plenty). It also folds like the SU-16.

I was eyeballing one at the store. I was told it takes AR mags straight up. They also recommend replacing it's standard bolt with an AR bolt to improve accuracy. They also told me it is just a straight drop-in modification. Bad part is the sight rail is plastic and a separate from the metal barrel. I imagine there will be a lot of squirm and would not be the most accurate thing for precision fire.

I'm contemplating if it is worth the $700 to be a bit lighter than my sks.

Hey, we are not all swimming in money. Be it $700 or $20 or $31000 (vehicle) that I managed to pay cash for (but oh that hurt) I try to get best bang for buck. Let's not start knocking someone that is just watching their spending closely.

Fun plinker, I made a Coke can dance at 100 meters (With a red dot)

Wouldn't want to fight with it though.

    $700 is too high.

comifornia for you. seems everything is more expensive. I just drool when I see prices from gun stores in other states.

I don't think Tango3 was knocking you. He was probably thinking the same thing I was. That gun has "$399 at Walmart" written all over it. $700 seems painfully overpriced, even with the markup forced on us by our comrades in Sacramento. You can get a real AR for that price.

Eh ? I thought he was saying something like oooooh $700 ? ouch as in is that it ? and you are griping on that piddly amount ?

Local store has it for $679, I rounded it up to $700. Maybe ours is more because it is a california only version with features that are less desireable but makes it legal. Small production run = higher price.

$700 IS alot, NOT a piddly amount.

If I lived in Ca I'd use an M1...

    ...Till I moved.

I looked at m1's I would be more comfortable with something that went out to 300 yards at least. SKS fit the bill as far as features, dependability price of ammo and price of the rifle. So that is what I have and am actually very happy with it. I found myself a new un-issued yugo sks. Tickled pink with it. Only real objection is weight, wood is not light compared to aluminum and plastic. (AR)

Why would I want anything else?

Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on one? I'd be willing to go a little over $700, if it's in good condition. :D

A range buddy bought the Kel-Tec SU-16 awhile back, and we range tested it.
    Here's our findings . . .
Light and handy, with a much nicer trigger than I expected!
The folding bipod/forend is more stable than expected. It remains to be seen how it'll last with time.
It took a variety of AR-15 magazines, and functioned with a variety of ammo, including WOLF. No problems there.
The original sights couldn't be adjusted to the bullseye. He ordered the optional metal rear sight - much better!! Hope all newer rifles have these sights.
One thing we did notice, and have read of others seeing too - once the barrel heats up, it tends to wander. Something is warping with the heat somewhere . . .

Overall, we liked it for what it is, a good plinker. I wouldn't take it to war.
And, unlike the horrid little abomination known as the Sub2000, it can keep the scope in place when folded!

A good friend of mine owns one of these. We've put several thousand rounds through it and I have to agree with SeaWolf. PRO'S: Very lightweight, accurate when cool, tripod works well, folds down small enough to fit in a back pack, butt has space for two clips, takes AR clips with no modification.
CON'S: Once barrel is warm poi wanders, tripod sometime sticks when refolding, sights not adjustable.
