Something is going on with this dest-top that is really screwed up. When I type a post of a letter in a word processor, the type will get progressively smaller until it can't be read or it might get so large that you can only find portions of a single letter on the screen. Posts jump around all over the screen and and this is getting beyond funny; anybody got any ideas?

That sounds like a virus..... More specifically a "prank" virus that one of your friends or family put on your computer, but you never know..... run a scan. I've got a nice little collection of "prank" viruses. They don't really hurt anything, they just annoy people in a funny way, like having their cursor "give them the finger" every so often, or making their icons move around when they try to click one.
I'm sorry to tell you that your type is fine, what is happening is your chair is rolling backwards as you push on the keyboard. Try using a stationary chair..........
