I have a nice little end of the year bonus that is burning a hole in my pocket. And of course I plan on spending it to feed my addiction. My problem is that I can't decide between two very different candidates.
    Both are similiar in price.

My buddy has an SR-25, Eugene Stoners original design for the M-16 in .308 caliber. It is a thousand yard tack driver. It is the sniper rifle for the navy seals. A semi-auto highly accurate .308.
I have one located with a 6-20x56mm mil-dot Government model Springfield Armory Scope, harris bi-pod, ergonomic target pistol grip, 5-20 round mags and 2-5 rounders. Plus unique, large hard case.

Advantages; semi .308 rifle. Plus is only a couple hundred bucks more than my buddy paid for his with no accessories, so a good one upper on my best bud.

Downside; .308 is expensive as hell and getting worse.

    Contestant #2

PKM semi-auto varient. 7.62x54R belt fed. Belt feds are a rush to shoot.

Advantages; 7.62x54 is dirt cheap. AP and API are readily available and cheap. Plus it's cool as ice cream on a hot day. Real head turner and source of green envy from my shooting buds. Makes lots of noise. Scare the sh** out of anyone trespassing on my property. Also comes with tri-pod.

Downside; Belts, barrels and parts not easy to come by. But did I mention that it's super cool!

Of course I could save the money and invest it in stocks or maybe put it in the kids college fund. Yeah right![lolol]

So which one do you monkeys vote for? Of course there are a few of you who will actually get a chance to shoot it so you have a vested interest.

Decisions, decisions..... Once I make this one I can get back to thinking about world peace. Or where to get the best deals on some ammo.

    Oh yeah.

I vote for Contestant #2 for sure.

Good luck with your decision (never easy to choose between 2, but at least you've got it narrowed down that far). :)

+1 for the cool factor. X54 is dirt cheap these days, and you will need LOTS of it for that li'l girl.

Since there is no "need" for a sniper rifle in your collection, I think the pkm would provide much more fun.

    I vote PKM.

Go for the PMK, Tom. You can pick up a AR-10 anywhere. Weaponeer has five of those Hungarian PKM kits at $2500.00 apiece for builds. A completed one would be a real rarity.

I'm with the rest, you can get an AR-10 any day, buy the belt fed.

I think you need a custom knife to go with all that belt-fed goodness! [boozingbuddies]

I generaly prefer accuracy over rate of fire BUT given thatniche is already filled, the belt fed should fall under C&R stuff (there by getting a bit more protection from gun grabbers), cheaper ammo, the fact that if gun rights go the other way and we get rid of more restrictions it COULD if you chose most likely be returned to its original fireing configuration, and its rarity meaning its price will climb so you likely would not be able to find it later and if you changed your mind in a year or 2 you could likely trade it for the other rifle along with a bunch of accessories and a couple cases of ammo.

So I would go for the belt fed option.

Gen 3 NV is on my wish list!!!

My New Years Resolution is to stay off of GunBrokor and to quit buying guns and start building my house!!

The "lose wieght and workout more" one from last year worked out real well!!

    I'm a rock.

There you go, since you already have both the long rangers AND the belt fed toys you could just get the tax stamp and get a can and or class 3 toys.
