non semi auto rifles?

Lets say that HR 1022 does somehow go through. Obviously then we're in hot water, particularly those of us currently not possessing semi auto evil black rifles, and thus not having any chance for a grandfather clause.

I think a good idea would be one of these guys, though the reviews seem to be raking them over the coals.

If I understand this damn law right, since its not a semi auto rifle one would be free to deck it out with as many widgets and gee gaws as theyd like.

Then maybe theres the lever action

The Winchester Model 1895 (recently restored to limited, non-catalog production by Miroku) is another classic Winchester replica. The 95 uses a box magazine that allows the use of pointed bullets. (There is, however, no provision for scope mounting.) The Model 1895 was introduced in .30-40 Krag but has recently been produced by Miroku in .270 Win., .30-06 and .405 Winchester. The current version is a takedown rifle in .405 caliber.

I'd maybe go with one in 45 acp with a tube magazine. Maybe 30 30 but supposedly thats got similar power to my 20 gauge with slugs.

I'm sure no one will hesitate to put forth thoughts and criticism. :D

I can't see ever giving up my "evil black rifle"... but

I grew up shooting Marlin Lever Actions, and I'm still a big fan. Now with "leverevolution" ammunition you can have the "pointed" rounds safely in tube magazines which of course, dramatically increases the effective range. They are making it in 30-30, 35 rem, and 45-70 (and a couple marlin specific calibers).

Stock Marlins not enough? A company called Wild West makes some Badass Marlin Rifles including large caliber (457 WWMag) takedown models, and short barreled entry guns.

As far as the 45 acp goes..... I've never seen one. I have seen lots of 45 Long Colt, 44-40, 44 Mag and 357 mag. They get used a lot by Cowboy Action Shooters. Cimarron has some great ones. Not only that, but if you live in a state like mine (IN), they just legalized pistol calibers in rifles for deer hunting. That would include 454 Casull (puma makes one) and some are custom chambering already for the S&W 460 and 500 Magnums.

The Marlin 94 Carbine in 44 mag is truly an impressive and handy little weapon.

And I'm gonna have to disagree with whoever said that a 30-30 is about like a 20 gauge slug. I've seen firsthand what each will do to a whitetail deer, and the 20 ga is far more brutal, but doesn't have quite the range.

I believe the 30-30 and 20 ga comparison was in context of how the new slug loads have similar ballistics to the 30-30 in close range stuff like thick new england woodstands and such.

I like the look of that entry gun too, gonna have to add one of those to my collection some day :D

One thing that you should remmeber is that a tube feed lever action/pump have one advantage over magazine feed guns. You can load a lever/pump action on the run with out being out of ammo in the gun, so your never down. Shoot a couuple load a couple and your never empty. Add a bandoleer (sp?) and the gun just about loads it's self.

I have a 1895 (Not the original, one of the repo's)

    in 30-40.

    It's a SWEET gun.

As was mentioned however you cannot top it off.

If I WERE forced into this situation... I'd go with a tube fed.

But what I'd really to so sell blood for $40 a week right now and buy an SKS and shoot... well, lets stop there.

As for the write up on the Remington pump: The writer's comments on the Ghost Ring are less than accurate. I've shot Ghost ring up to 425 yds with good accuracy. No problems. They're very fast at close range, so it isn't a problem I'd worry about.

Yep. If you can afford a lever/pump action anything then you can afford a SKS and the ammo is going to be cheaper as well for the SKS. [dunno]

I own several non-semi automatic rifles, including five with a little blue tax stamp. I have several lever-action and bolt guns and enjoy shooting them but as for having my black-rifles taken away? not gonna happen. I have already drawn that line in the sand and will just openly and armed, break that law until I am chained or dead.

As far as one where you can shoot a few load a few, there is also the 30-40 Kraig that the military used to have way back when. It has a box magazine on the side that holds 5 shots, you flip it open and drop in the shells then close it and work the bolt. You can reload the magazine at any point and just flip the magazine open or closed with your thumb. Big long and heavy notto mention expensive to shoot but highly accurate.

Have one, original carbine. Will out kick a mule, makes the monkey gun look like a pussycat. It is accurate if it likes the fodder, and that takes some playing. I have to say, the bolt on mine is smoother by a wide margin over a Mauser. (Military trigger is nothing to write home about either.)

Yup, my dad has one. I know granny once used it to shoot a chicken hawk while flying at a bit over 1/4 mile. She was quite a shot any how though, due to her usual abilities at it, it took her a long time when ONCE, when she used her little .25 that would get lost in a pocket to shoot a chicken runing around the yard in the head she missed its head and the bullet cut its throat instead, that was such a poor shot for her it that she was still reminded of it MANY years later. Oh and the chickens were from the hip.

Y'all are talkin about the Krag Jorgensen...... I love those rifles. We used 'em in the Spanish American War, and some countries used 'em up into WW2.

Yup, the rifle is the one he has. Things like trying to carry a howetzer and kicks about the same too but dose the job well.

If it had to be non-SA:shock:?

I'd take my Lee-Enfield No.4 MK1's, mainly for the mag capacity.
