401k, roth, TSP (.gov) and other retirement non tangibles

Well the sp500 is down like 24% year to date so I took all my safe money and put it all on my sp500 fund.
A typical obama/Biden/Clinton market retraction is usually about 1/4 to 1/3 so this should be close to the bottom.

 

Unfortunately i think the stock market AND the bond market are about to go in the shitter. The bond market is much larger than the stock market and when it tanks it will really hit the fan. People are running to cash and the dollar looks strong because of it. However, it is just he best smelling turd in the punch bowl right now. The dollar is going to tank again sooner rather than later. I just think it will tank last. Gold and silver will take a hit but not as much and recover much better. I am trying to have at least 10% of my assets in physical gold and silver. I am not there yet but working on it.

NFW am I going to take all available cash and put it on the S&P500.
I'd keep some dry powder .. like 50%.
I'd put some on Au/Ag (physical and miners). Some into S&P, Some into I-bonds, Some into real estate and some into preps.

That 50% would be if any super good fire sales come along.
Like a piece of property, piece of big equipment, ... etc.

But that's just me.

 

Looks like I can call the bottom probably because I'm a pessimistic old bastsrd. But we will have to see if it holds.
The date pinned is as close as I can get to that last post October 9th on that chart which is when I applied for funds transfer and it went through probably the next business day or the one after that.

 

If the left can't steal your retirement they will just force you to invest in (subsidize) social experiments like climatechange, green new deal, social justice bullshit that was always designed to fail.

This is kind of what the Chinese do. They don't let their subjects make investments that will actually make money. One of the few things they are allowed to invest in that seems like it would make money is real estate. Search "empty Chinese cities". Basically they are forced to invest in always empty, no where near finished condos that will likely never be occupied and I think will prove to be worth nothing. Congratulations you just subsidized a failed social experiment, that was designed to fail from the start.

 

Ownership and control share a fine line.

 

Marry someone who shares the same financial values as you do is a good start. My wife and I pretty much fixed our lifestyle and put future raises and financial windfalls (presents, tax refunds) in the bank. Paid cash for cars and our cards are paid in full every month. Still have a small mortgage, as I'm making more on my investments than the mortgage costs.

She started SSec at FRA mid '22. I'm waiting until 70 so she will get a bigger check if I die first. (Mine is 4x hers) As it goes, we've been fortunate. Probably won't have to tap our IRAs, and can actually live quite well on my pension. So we're able to start helping the kids save for grandkids' future.

 

That’s awesome to hear that you are able to help the kids as well. It’s huge if they can get a helping hand, and will mean a lot to them in preparing for their future.
