    Surprise!
Facebook has been receiving users’ financial info from tax preparers - The Verge

Major tax filing services such as H&R Block, TaxAct, and TaxSlayer have been quietly transmitting sensitive financial information to Facebook when Americans file their taxes online, The Markup has learned.

The data, sent through widely used code called the Meta Pixel, includes not only information like names and email addresses but often even more detailed information, including data on users’ income, filing status, refund amounts, and dependents’ college scholarship amounts.

Memo on 'free' anything - there is No Free Lunch. These bastards are going to make their $$ someway - selling user data is an easy buck.

No, I don't file online either. We mail in our forms via delivery confirmed USPS. On April 1 -which is appropriate IMO.

Well, I got news for ya. There are data aggregators out there that got ya covered.
If you have in your own name:
    • Savings Account
    • Checking Account
    • Credit Card
    • Brokerage Account
    • 401Ks
    • Insurance Policies (health, life, umbrella, ...)
    • Make recurring payments (mortgage, car note, revolving credit, utilities)
    • Own a registered car, plane, boat.
    • Property ( House, Land)
    • Pay Taxes (state, local, fed)
    • Make or Receive a bank wire
    • Have loyalty card
    • Receive or sent postal mail
    • Are registered to vote
    • Have kids, a spouse.
    • Have kids in public schools
    • ...etc.
If it's in your name and not buried under a couple of LLC layers , Your data is out there.
And I may have had your information pass though my ETL scripts if you are associated to a piece of property.

You ever get a piece of mail that shows a picture of your property with the cost to perform a service like lawn mowing, window replacement, roofing, fertilizing, tree removal ... If so, those people know a lot more than you wish they would.

You want to disappear? Sell everything you own and have your shell LLCs you created in Nevada, Wyoming, one of the Dakotas or offshore years ago buy your next place and own everything.

That way you will own nothing and be happy otherwise .. you are def. on a list.

I learned the 'nothing is free' lesson many many years ago. Makes me sad to see how many people still fall for it, but worse yet, how many learn that lesson but FAIL to teach their children.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "...etc." but I'm pretty sure nothing on that list applies to me. ;)

I worked for a major bank, just prior to bailing out of the work force.
The banks willingly and openly share data with the Credit Reporting companies. Credi unions, maybe not so much, dunno for certain.

What I find hilarious is a certain Credit Reporting outfit that will 'help you improve your credit score - For Free!"
What isn't so funny is when one of these places gets hacked....

I stopped worrying about who had my data, after the Office of Personnel Management (who manages the personnel records of everyone who's been in the military since about WW2 on, as well as all the civilian federal employees) outsourced the record keeping to a contractor here in the states.....and since it wasn't forbidden in the contract, that entity turned around and subcontracted the work to a company in China. And I was one of those people affected. Well, shoot.....why worry about it, after that??:rolleyes:
