People being how they are, if the goobermint ever does send armed robots after We The People, they'll find them in the Hoods stripped for parts.

I remember when chess programs were easy to beat...now they beat chess grandmasters ...this generation of AI may be easy to fool...but they will become more sophisticated...as will the counter measures required to defeat them.

I agree...novel solutions will work for a while...until they don't. It pays to have a little intellectual humility...for as we know...hubris can lead us into a world of hurt.

That's the way we have to think Chell. Like Sarah Connor. There will always be a creative solution to defeat new technology. From paint bombs to hurricane fence.

Until they're thoroughly armored, a well placed shot from long range will make expensive modern art out of them. If the AI robots wear enough armor to resist small arms fire they get heavy enough to be at risk from natural hazards like a fall through root mat or man made traps that tangle them up. They'll also need to be serviced or recharged. We just have to find the new weakness.

    We live in interesting times.

HA, Years ago, we learned how to defeat thermal detection, we used those "Space Blankets" under an old Wool blanket and made ourselves look like a rock, worked every time, even against our own top tier gear! Proof that for every high tech system, there is usually a low tech solution, the trick is being able to experiment and survive long enough to find the solution!

Leave it to a group of Marines to try to get close and touch an AI. Why not just drop a 750 grain .50 cal BMg on that AI and be done with it.

Well, so long as the "smart" robot doesn't utter that classic movie line....:rolleyes:

A thermite grenade would work wonders.

I was thinking a Molotov would work, as well, but slower…

Thickened gasoline gel - homebrew napalm. Sticks and keeps burning. Not good for electronics!

The main limitation to robots as weapons are power restrictions due to the batteries. When that gets solved or they distribute power wireless as Tesla envisioned we could be fooked. AI is increasingly being incorporated into almost every aspect of anything electronic, so the relative mobility may be a moot point.

You can bet your a$$ that the program manager upgraded and improved the software and had it implemented before the week was even finished. Those Drone robots are the future or war, easy and cheap to mass produce, quiet and effective...and scarier than a dozen terminators.
