I'm sure you all have heard about the 4 submarine fiber optic data lines that were cut this week, (accidentally in 4 different locations) which has left Iran without any internet since Tuesday.

I was surprised when I spoke with some people about it today and they were talking about those damn raghead Arabs. They didn't realize that the Iranian people are Caucasian. I thought everyone new that. I had to give them a quick geography lesson on just where the Caucasus mountains were located, (Iran) (at times as borders change). Iran's ethnic population structure on has 3% Arabs and they are all in the south towards Iraq. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0107640.html. Largest ethnicity are Persians. Iranians are 'Proto Indo European' NOT Arab

I thought I'd post a few pics of Tehran, I think many of us think the entire Midlle East is just sand and camels. (Read in a book about Oregon last night that Camels used to be native there)

Anyway, I'm sure that the Fiber/data lines being cut undersea is a blackout preclude to further war. Maybe we want to take one last look at these people and this very pretty city.

Yep, there is a world of difference between Iranians and Iraqis. This past year, I had an ex-Iranian working for me part time. PhD geologist. Good hand. Of him, more another time. The rest of the story(ies) is (are) entirely too involved for here. He left Iran after the Shah was deposed.

Nice pics. Now if they would only get rid of IamAnutJob as president.

As cosmopiltan as Iran may seem, I recall conversations I had with young men in the early 1980s that had fled when the Shah was deposed. They were engineering students in one of our Midwest universities, all drove Firebirds. Seemed very Western, rational. Yet, they were insistent that their highest mission as Iranians was to wipe Israel off the map, even if it took 100 years or 500. They would state this as casually and matter-of-factly as if they were ordering a sandwich. To date I have not heard of any representative Iranian group refuting this position.

When Iranians can talk about coexisting with Israel then I'll believe they want to enter the family of nations and can think rationally. Until then I would be very careful. Any people that can be so blinded by prejudice should not even be "trusted by verified", they should be treated with caution until they demonstrate by actions to the contrary.

Funny, you would think that they would hold a grudge against the Greeks as well for making them eat that Shait sandwich at Thermopoli?
