@Dunerunner Thank you so much for these ideas! They all sound delicious, full of variety, and very doable. I feel motivated again and it gives me a lot to work with.
Day #31 of Keto! I weighed myself and I've lost 10 lbs during this time span. I still have a ways to go, but I'm glad that I started on this journey. I started running this week and while I don't feel like the energizer bunny, I still feel pretty good. I'm thinking of either starting or joining a workout accountability thread here. Is there already one?
Go ahead. It's a great idea to keep track and show your progress. I've been losing a few pounds lately, but I want to stay close to my target weight. I have noticed my weight can swing a bit if I don't eat properly. For example, I will 'cheat' once per week to gain a little weight back by devouring some pasta (with loads of fatty meat and olive oil) or perhaps it's a couple English muffins with Italian meats and egg and a touch of mustard... In any case, I find it easy to bounce back in and maintain the Keto lifestyle. I do not believe this would have been a good idea back when I was trying to lose the weight.
@Brokor Thank you! It's great that you have figured out how to make the little changes that help you stay on the right track towards your goals. Hearing your experiences with this lifestyle is very encouraging to me. I have been visiting Dr. Berg's channel and he's very informative and helpful. Thanks again for the recommendation. For a few minutes, Google scared me because google has a way of saying "everything is bad and life threatening." I trust the science behind it and I think it's in line with my goals. I'm going to do my best to stay good and not "cheat." Maybe when I reach my goal weight I can be more open minded, but I don't know how long that will take. I've tried lots of different things and have yo yo dieted before. That rollercoaster can be discouraging. I have faith that it will work this time and am committed to sticking with it.
Day #35 of Keto! I'm feeling pretty good and started running this week after not running at all for over 2 years. Yesterday I ran 10 miles without stopping. It wasn't fast, but it was exciting to see that I could last that long. Today I ran 10.80 miles and I took an entire hour off of my time. Again, it wasn't fast, but shaving off an hour is good in my book.
@CraftyMofo Thank you! I did it a 3rd time yesterday, but got chased by a dog (pit) and was thankful that I had the endurance to get away. Almost had to use my pepper spray, but the yelling worked.
Day #42 of Keto! I'm feeling pretty good about everything. This past week I ran over 10 miles 3 days in a row, but there was some weirdness on my road every time. Sometimes loose dogs, people driving really fast, or suspicious vehicles so I've dialed down the running and started doing some strength training and tabata-style workouts at home. My handstands and inversions are improving which is exciting. I'm getting ready to move to my other house and am trying not to stress too much about that. It should be an easy move.
Day #56 of Keto! This week I was relived to find out that even though I stopped running, I'm still losing weight. I've managed to IF consistently and get down to 2 meals a day. I still have sweet cravings though and have things with stevia and a sugar free sweet hear and there. Do the sweet cravings ever go away? Do you have any tips or tricks?
Day #63 of Keto! I really started to feel physically good this week. Like I'm starting to feel the benefits of this lifestyle. I'm finally sleeping better which is progress (I've struggled with insomnia for years). I think I can do this!
@Alanaana , congrats on the 10mi run. My longest so far is 10k (6.2), some day I'll get to 10+ but it's not a real priority. I've been doing more of a keto-vore diet, less veg and more meat. If you have not already, check out Dr. Ken Berry on YT. Yes the sweet cravings go away, but if you every have something sweet you are back to square 1. Try making some brown butter bites (search YT, but it's really just boiling butter until it 'caramelizes'). The make a wonderful fat snack and can replace your sweet cravings. I find that the butter bites made with salted butter taste better than unsalted.
@kckndrgn Thank you so much! I think the "secret" is that I go really slowly at a pace I can sustain. I feel like I have been doing a similar kind of keto-vore diet too. I feel so strong with more meat and I kind of have minimal veggies (just enough.) I'll look up Dr. Berry now. Thank you so much for sharing! I think the sweet cravings have been one of my biggest challenges. I haven't heard of butter bites yet either. This is all super helpful!
Day #70 of Keto! I'm -22 lbs since I started this! I still have a ways to go, but I'm very happy with this progress. This week I dusted off my food scale and started using it and logging my food for accuracy. I tried making the browned butter bites and I think they would have tasted good if I didn't 2nd guess myself, but once I realized the butter was just golden, I took it out of the freezer and cooked it until it was a deep amber. I think it was too long because it ended up tasting like burnt popcorn. Lesson learned, I'll give it another try soon! I hope all of you are doing well!
@Alanaana , yup, we did the same thing with our first batch of BBB. Wife cooked it in a cast iron skillet and it was hard to tell when it was done. You can also add in something like LMNT - chocolate flavor to add some additional flavor to the BBB's. Congrats on the weight loss!
@kckndrgn Thank you! I had a feeling that this would take a few times to "perfect." I'm very impressed with the texture and the layers that form once it's frozen. Chocolate flavoring is an option? I'll have to look that up! Hope you'll have a wonderful week!
@Dunerunner thank you for the recommendation. I'll look her up! I'm trying to immerse myself in this lifestyle and learn as much as I can.
Yes, your body is literally being told by your billions of creatures inside your gut to eat more sugar. This means you haven't balanced your gut biome properly. Easy solution, though. Get some Kefir at the grocery or make your own. Drink a half cup of that per day before bed. Also check into getting some Gobiotix prebiotic fiber boost (they sell it on Amazon) it's a bit spendy but one container should last you a couple months. I suggest one scoop every other day, mix with whatever you want. Alternatively, check into fixing your gut however you like. This is just the way I did it. Also, eat those veggies and salad regularly!!! Good luck, you're doing great.
@Brokor I'm so glad to hear that it's fixable! I do like kefir. I'll try that and will also look into the probiotic on Amazon. Thanks for these suggestions. You and the people here really helped me get started with this. I'm not sure I would have gotten this far and stuck with it otherwise.
