Had to run my daughter around tonight. In between stops I had lit the small grill to cook some chicken for my wife. Around 15 minutes had gone by and I walked out to check the temp. Cold.

I figured I was out of gas and went through the process of change out. Hooked up the new bottle and turned it on. You know that they always say to light a gas grill with the lid open.... I had no idea that the wind had blown out the flame and the entire grill was full of gas.

Was 6 inches away with a bic in hand when I saw the flash and then heard the pop. 15 minutes of a propane bottle on high can make a large boom in an enclosed space. I smelled the burn and saw traces of flame on my cotton shirt.

Walked in the house as my wife was running to the door thinking a tree had fallen on the house. yikes. I have to shave my forearms tomorrow as the little burnt balls of hair won't come off. I have no eyelashes on my right eye and that eyebrow is a little screwed up as well.

I'm a safety guy and this one kicked my ass. think twice before you put flame to a source of gas. The grill was upside down when I walked back out to check it. The grate was blown about 15 ft away. hehe. fire

    Yikes!!!!!!....

Glad you're o.k..... I'm always paranoid with fire... heh heh heh... me and my fires....

Make sure your eyes are ok.... if you start having headaches or nausea... see a doctor... put something cold on your eyes if you saw the flash... grate some potatoes and put the cool mash on your eyes to draw the heat out....

Take Care buddy.... don't wanna end up like this... [lolol][boozingbuddies]

15 ft. away with the grille, good launch. Didn't you have another incident with propane? You better watch it, you don't have many lives left [booze]

    ETA: glad you're alright

Heh, good thing I learned my propane lessons young. Propane powered potato launcher. Even less space than your grill but boy propane can pack a wallop.

Glad you lost only some hair and little else.

I still have my propane powered spud cannon, and trashbags full of the stuff looks perdy too. Glad you are ok though. Im always paranoid when around something invisible and flammable.

I wonder what would happen if you filled a compressed CO2 pellet gun canister with compressed propane, put a wick in it, and lit it? I wonder if it would work that same as the gunpowder filled one that annihilated a 5 gallon steel pail and left a hole in the ground. Send more cops!

    M I'm glad your OK.
Colt I believe you might be referring to me and couple of years ago.
I had a gas furnace blow a fire ball in my face severe enough to make flesh fall off of my nose tip.

IIRC, melbo shot at a propane cylinder and had it come back at him, sound familiar.

I almost did that last week, the bottle I've got won't turn on sometimes and then it does. So you you have the burn't match look eh? Hair grows back, glad you are ok. Like the Pella window commercial! Propane bottles in house fires are serious!

I wonder if he should be trusted with a Bic. Maybe Bear will send him a striker and some char cloth. [booze]

(Still delighted that sight didn't go with the fur.) [beer]

Not sure if we should trust melbo with fire anymore.... My strikers might still be too dangerous.... [beat]

Ouch! Maybe a pic for a new avatar? Might be scary like that previous avatar of the dog with the needle.
