I'm going to price these 7 items every 30 days.
Every 90 days I'll plot them on a chart so we can see what is really going on in consumer pricing. I left gas and gold off because I believe the prices are politically manipulated. I will reference the current price of the USD.

I'm going to go to the same store each time. I know that these prices may be more or less elsewhere but that doesn't really skew my numbers. See you in 30 days ;)

Mayfield milk is organic/no rbgh -- that is why it is so expensive.

It might be particularly interesting to also add flour and or corn meal to the chart too. I know I need to try to make it to the bulk store this week and see if I can get a few 50# bags of flour at the old price still since a report on news the other day talking to a baker mentioned that due to the boost in ethanol demand more land is going to corn so there is less wheat and $15 50# bags of flower had jumped in a couple weeks time to $40 each.

Okay, that does make a difference, thanks.

Gotcha', g - it's just that 1/2 G prices are not always half of gallon prices (certainly not around here). I think that they add the convenient size charge to them.

Never are anywhere I've been. Smaller containers always higher. But you gotta pay what you gotta pay; if I buy gallons, I waste enough to make up the difference, don't use it fast enough. I hate waste more than price when it comes to stuff that deteriorates faster then I can use it.

February was unchanged. Sorry, I forgot to add that.
But, that grocery store is undergoing a complete remodel so maybe the prices haven't been changed? I don't think Mayfield is organic, just a premium brand... Organic would be Horizon. I pay more for that stuff.

To top it off for us, we pay 9.5% tax on all food... BOHICA

The milk I buy is 3.99 a gallon local brand with no rbgh. that is the good news. The bad news is my wife, kids, nephews drink 5 gallons or more a week. That's expensive. if the HOA would only allow me to have a fricking cow!! I would name her "Creme Brule" or "Milkshake"

    Oh the dreams.

Yes they just said it on CNN, food prices are fixing to jump. The only milk I would drink is raw, only goats milk around here. I use rice milk and soy milk. Flour is up triple I hear, and other foods are soon to follow. The big boys have our food, water, and other neccessities locked down and soon most people are going to freak, man, can you imagine a food panic? Starting two gardens this spring, one for summer and one for fall. Buy a three cows, for milk and meat if you have the room. They will try to starve out the resistance.

    Re: melbo tracks inflation

I went shopping last weekend with my wife for our weekly food. After pulling out non-food items from the bill, there has been a 35% increase in our weekly food costs.

Amazing thing is that there has only been a 3.5% increase in the consumer price index. I would personally like to thank our government for doing all it can to convince us that what we are consuming has risen so little.

The all seeing, all knowing wisdom of dot gov removed food from the CPI some time ago. Supposedly, it distorts the core cost of living --. Statistics are what they are, I guess---

Can't help thinking that retribution is on the horizon for some of these idiocies. Should be, anyhow. A stampede of sheep is no less destructive then a stampede of elephants, just takes more of them.

that's not very reassurring and one more reason no to believe .gov , lies, damn lies, and stastistics. Firmly believe wit the way they adjust statistics, they can prove whatever they want depending on what they count..

It appears that we are on a path of self-destruction from almost every bad idea being enacted into stupid laws by stupid, but well educated, bureaucrats and self-serving politicos. I do not see anything but the cleansing after the disaster; however, rest assured that the politicians are going to secure their retirement, their health care, their medical, their security, their food supplies etc, etc, because "they are necessary". ---- you all and the horse you rode in on!!!! Our Constitution never ever envisioned professional politicos,. with no real world experience other than crooked politics, who would serve their own elections before serving the nation and its good.

    Re: melbo tracks inflation

As for the Melbo inflation tracking:

Melbo has moved across the country to begin a new job. He has been very busy in the training process with many trips out of town. He does visit the monkey to do site updates, but has been spending time with his family and getting resettled.

The time he has free right now is for Mrs. Melbo and his kids.

Any update of the inflation tracking would be bad data since his new surrounds had different starting prices.
