I found this today, nice site for a M1a and Fals. Site in at 300m and range out to 1.2k with a simple hold over. Standardized by the DEA, ATF, and FBI SWAT, the EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticle, AA Batteries) is by far the most popular Holographic Weapon Sight model. This NV compatible, AA battery model is the sight of choice by military units like Stryker Brigade, 10th Mountain, and 3rd Infantry. It is battle proven to withstand the abuse that any harsh environment, high powered weapon platform, or military mission can dish out. The EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight with .XR-308 reticle provides a multi purpose image that is calibrated to the specific trajectory of the M240. The center dot is used for 0-300 meters. Three additional calibrated aiming dots are for 600m, 900m and 1.2km. No matter what .308 cal platform you own, the 552.XR308 can take your speed and accuracy gains to the next level. In addition to the M240 machine gun, the sight works with other .308 platforms such as Remington 700s or AR-10 style rifles. The EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight uses laser light to illuminate a holographic reticle pattern embedded in the heads-up display window and forms a virtual image of a reticle pattern. The shooter looks through the heads-up display window and sees a bright red image of a reticle pattern projected onto the target plane. There is absolutely no light projected onto the target plane. The EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight has no magnification. The EOTech 552.XR308 Holo Weapon Sight is equipped with mounting hardware to attach to a standard 1" dovetail or Picatinny style rail. To achieve the best results and accuracy, the HWS must be mounted properly. Users manual for EOTech 552.XR308 Holo Weapon Sight you can find HERE.
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl How much of my child's college fund will I have to leverage to get one of these? Don't suppose you found one for the 5.56?
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl The 308 one new is 500.00. 5.56: http://www.opticsplanet.net/eotech-holographic-weapon-sight-557-ar223.html The other one has the 4 dots for the 5.56 EOTech HOLOgraphic Weapon Sight 557 AR223 (M557) Night Vision Compatible w/ FREE UPS - EOTech AR223 Ballistically Matched Reticle for .223 ammunition (M4)
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl I have a brand new EOTech M557 .223 I just mounted it on my M4 Carbine, but it hasn't even seen any rounds yet....
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl If you use the Eotech, be certain to take the batteries out when storing. Nasty corrosion with those buggers. I currently have 30 on a 550 cord waiting to be turned in for being faulty. Most common problems; they won't turn on and off properly after a few months use, will not hold a zero if banged around, and easily corroded battery compartments. We use mostly ACOG's and M68 CCO's for the unit I am with. In my opinion, both are a better buy for your dollars.
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl Man I love the Eotech on my AR! The 552 with AA batteries is my choice also, and they last a long time.
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl Is yours a revision F Eotech? I hear they worked out those bugs with the new revision F models
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl We had several people use them and they worked perfectly. One guy completely wore the finish off his and it was doing the Timex thing when we left.
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl Yeah, I never used the rev. F model, so maybe they work better. From a prof. standpoint, they work fine from what I hear. We don't use them, however. From a personal standpoint, I would want a battery free optic such as the USMC version of the ACOG with Tritium. If I have to go with a red dot, then the CompM3 CCO is my first choice. Let me know how the EOTech works out for you.
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl Send it my way and I'll test it out for you and let ya know, gotta FAL in need of an optic
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl Not to disparage your Comp, but they suck if you ever have to put a NV behind them, the housing is so big that it reduces the amount of peripheral view you have with the NV and also your eye. Aimpoint is riding the bandwagon with their devices, there is no way that a standard Aimpoint is worth $400+ dollars.
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl aiiiight i have a question...for the eotech .308bdc you need to zero it for 300m? why would they make a holographic site with no magnification that would need a zero of 300m and go out to 1200m? am i missing something? is this more for a military application? i just bought it for a M1A Socom 2. hell i dont think i could even see 1200m. any suggestions?
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl Many of the AK powers that be State-side have decided that the AimPoint Micro on a Utilimak railed gas tube is the be all end all set up. Larry Vickers is even running it on his SLR-106 used in his AK Classes. I just can't bring myself to drop $90 on a gas tube with a rail on it, then the $500-700 on a Micro. Luckily Bushmaster has copied it (the Micro). I haven't tried their EOTech copies, but have heard good things.
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl Mags you have any info on these by LaRue Tactical? I've been thinking about trying one. http://www.tacticalgunfan.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=299&Itemid=70
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl I like the looks of that Burris FastFire, found them new on Ebay for $189 shipped.
Re: EOTech 552.XR308 Holographic Weapon Sight (XR.308 Reticl That is the problem I see with the rear sight leaf red dot. The leaf is flapping around taser1. Personally I like the Kobra, but if I wasn't going to do that...The Utilimak and the Bushnell knock off is my second consideration.
Scopes have really evolved and now you have a really good smart scopes now. I have bought one of those recently and I really enjoy hunting with it. I had a lot of scopes and this one is probably the best one I have ever had . I bought it on ATN website and on there you can find really good scopes for good prices. They have night vision scopes, thermal scopes and really anything you might need for your rifle. They will soon release new 4K scope and it will be their best scope and I will be buying it the moment it is out.
