Thank you for allowing me to join, I live on the west coast of New Zealand south island there is great free range hunting, if ever the SHTF it's a good place to live!
Welcome aboard,, it'll be interesting to hear of some of your teachings from your area . Folks from other countries can add a good bit to the prepping lifestyle. Looking forward to learning something new.
Big welcome from North Idaho. What do you hunt there in NZ and is it any good? Here, we get a bit of everything, moose, elk, antelope, deer, turkey (too damn many turkey for my liking as they are always around here, crap everywhere! LOL! but will not be scared off.). I tried my first wild turkey last year and it was quite good! People were telling me it wasn't worth eating but I marinated it and it wasn't too bad, definitely would fill the gap if hungry. We get some coyote also every year and normally a few cougars. I think the coyote and cougar are more from the easy pickings they get from the free ranging chickens people keep. I don't hunt, I certainly would if I was hungry, but it's a hunters dream here. Lots of fowl hunting also...Frankly, I can't think of anyone else from NZ on the forum, got a few from Australia but you might be the first from NZ. Welcome!
Welcome to the monkey. Had an uncle in the merchant marine that loved New Zealand in the 1942 to 1944 period. Said it was a beautiful place. Was on a tanker that usually went to Aussie land or New Guneia and got shot at by the Japanese. Could go all the way to N Z with no danger but a few subs. He was raised in family with a saw mill and always talked about some trees he saw on one trip and what beautiful logs they would have made. Hated your canned mutton by the way however but said with enough catsup and hot it was eatable and available.
NZ has some of the best deer hunting in the world ! Red, Fallow, Sika, Wapiti plus hogs of course ! Welcome from The Mainland
Well, that isn't entirely true, I can think of three right off the top of my head that didn't add much; #1-Ed from LA, #2-that Hairy Krishna guy, and #3-He who shall remain nameless.
Welcome from NSW Australia. Thought about buying some lakeside land at Wanaka about 7 years ago, beautiful spot, but already really expensive. Almost got killed in the Main Street there, was crossing the road, looked to my right, was literally stunned by the scenery, forgot I was in the middle of the road and almost got run over.
