I like WINTER! I like it a lot more when I have everything prepared and stocked up for Winter even more. I ventured over to the Commercial Kitchen to check how the wall mount DuraFlame propane heater I installed yesterday was doing. Went with the smaller one and made a good call there. It is keeping it 60 degrees with the ceiling fan on its slowest setting circulating. I put the same model heater in my 24' camper a couple of winters ago and cranked all the way up it makes the camper a oven. So figuring the Kitchen is only 12x32 the same model would keep it warm easily set on 1-2. Weather guessers said we had a 5% chance of getting maybe 1" of snow this evening. Turned out to be a hair over 2" And grabbed a pic of the Cabin when I started the journey back. I got 99 problems but firewood and staying warm ain't one of them
Yeah, fall is over! Last couple of nights have been in the 20's with heavy frost, with more of the same forecast. However, it's December and if we're going to have winter weather now's the time. On a positive note, everything is dead and maybe my allergies will get better. PS That propane heater reminds me that I need to check the propane tanks and heaters that I use for emergency heat.
Arrived here in Michigan the other day. Broke deer camp on Thanksgiving since they were calling for up to a foot of snow from Friday to Sunday morning. They updated the forecast to 1-2’ late on Thanksgiving night. Headed home on Friday to beat the weather. Had some white knuckle driving thru Gaylord, but got home in one piece! I guess they got 25” in Gaylord, so the weatherman was pretty close! Just a couple inches here downstate.
No snow in coastal SC but it's damn cold for here 20s at night --45 during the day supposed to last a week
No snow in my AO ,, but it's dropping in to the high 20s, low 30s at night . I actually stated cleaning up one of the heaters the other day, mines a Glo-warm,, I'm hoping I got enough copper line left on this roll,, I sure hate to have to buy more to just get a few feet farther,, especially at today's prices . 8+ yrs ago it was high,, today is even worse.
Until a few days ago we had been running the usual 45-55 days and 35-40 nights. That pattern most years holds through December. Then we get the 20s and 30s and the week or two of sub zero and single digits in January/February. I believe it has been 5 out of the 18 years that I have lived here that we have gotten snow in December. When I decided to relocate in 2007 there was a lot of pressure on me to move back home to SD. Even went back and spent the Month of December with my brother on the Rez the family allotment had passed on to us LOL after that Month and the COLD I signed my interest in it over to him. I shopped around looking at KY, South MO. and even considered moving back to TN. Then weighing everything out chose this place in Southern IL. A big factor in that was the weather and climate. I wanted a LONG Growing Season, I cool hunting season and a few weeks of WINTER to remind that winter still exist. Also a phenomena her called the I64 Corridor and the sweet spot just South of it where the bulk of the big storms veer to the North or split in half and go North and South of us. Our prevailing winds are out of the SW and 90% of our Weather comes up out of the Gulf. Go 15 miles North or South of me and its a whole different weather pattern critter. This is looking to be one of the anomaly years where we get cold and snow in December LOL I got the picture of that Super Lightning Bolt sitting on my porch watching a big storm that split and raged North and South of here and I had a nice 5-6mph breeze. That Bolt was 10 miles South of me, it hit a barn 10 miles South of me and killed a bunch of cattle. Had the Camera set up taking a pic every 1 second. When I saw this one go off I was like Damnnnnnnnnnnn I hope the camera snapped that one! I guess the Gulf weather pattern and West and North Weather patterns kind of come together and make that 20 mile wide sweet strip that my place is in. I don't always dodge the storms on occasion that line moves North or South and I get a direct hit. But 9 out of 10 storms either split or veer to the North of me about 15 miles to the West of here, when they hit that gulf line. Then go up and track on East along I64.
Anything but a MR HEATER LOL. I like their Buddy and Big Buddy heaters but they love to get a oily build up inside one of the lines that eventually blocks the gas flow........ Even using the line filter. And they are PITA to take apart to get to the line and blow it out and clean it with carb and choke cleaner or acetone. Buddy and Big Buddy have the same malfunction but are a lot easier to take apart and clean out. The DuraFlames I switched to are bit different inside and the lines don't have the U shape for the stuff to pool and build up in like the MR Heaters do. I do use inline filters that catch the particulate stuff that comes with using 20#-100# tanks.
She is healing slowly on the back of her leg but that is expected PoP turned the back into ground human. Still can't believe she didn't cut the artery or tendon. I expect she will move on in the spring, it just ain't gonna work with her terrified of Poo and PoP. And well when she errrr suggested that I dispose of Poo and PoP or she would have to go....... I said I guess I will miss you. These Dogs have been with me going on 9 years since the minute they were born, Zero chance of them being *Disposed* of.
Yeah, one of the major things in a relationship, especially an early relationship, is one side making ultimatums. It is a lose-lose situation - meaning - if you give in then you have not only lost self-respect but you can be certain this isn't the last time an ultimatum will be used. Appeasement in love and diplomacy never works. She should never have said such a thing...actually doesn't reflect good on her character either.
Please post link Sir TR/KK . Need to get them to NC /TN for the forgotten ones. #2 info $0 years ago , I would ask for a coffee / date Sloth
Sadly none of my Dogs play around when they get down to business Both Sides look like this and the cuts went to the bone The back before the stitches were out and before she slipped and raked it down a concrete step. The back after she raked it down the concrete step and tore everything open. PoP was seriously for real trying to take that tendon and artery out Honestly she should be singing Poo's praises for grabbing PoP and holding her down so the GF could escape........ And I might be a bad man for this but I can't muster a whole lot of sympathy towards her in how it all went down. I can sympathize with that is A LOT of damage in the 2-3 seconds PoP had before Poo snatched her. And it has to hurt like a MF'R. And in PoPs Defense what she saw and acted on from her perspective were 3 dogs attacking Poo and then those dogs human jumping in and hitting Poo..... She was just protecting her Sister and Alpha in their own Den. I really don't know how PoP didn't cut at least the tendon but glad she didn't get it or the artery. And yep that is going to leave some nasty scars. I am going to take the Obama Approach, You know a Learning Moment.... I think the GF and PoP need to sit down and have a beer summit and talk things out. But seriously PoP is secure in her position and place here and I don't even begin to understand the logic of "Get rid of Poo!" Get rid of the Dog that literally saved your life after you did something really stupid?????? Anyway I am not seeing how this can even begin to work now. her little fur covered turds are not going to stop attacking Poo. She is not going to stop being terrified of PoP. And when Poo has enough and crunches one or both of her remaining dogs, she will probably do something stupid again and get ripped up again. PoP is just a snuggly little baby and actually unlike Poo and Duke really likes people........ Until one gives her a reason not to.
PoP is so cute! I'd take him over a girl any day. Ultimatums (in relationships) never work especially when it comes to family and they are your family just protecting their family and doing what they were trained to do.
@Kamp Krap Well, I truly doubt she is leaving, not unless you force the issue for if she was leaving, she would already be gone. Now, she has played the ultimatum card, it has failed, so she has lost face and in an early relationship that is hard to recover from so she is going to hang around and sees what happens. She doesn't want to leave but the wildcard here are those 'little fur covered turds' as you so elegantly described them. They might force the issue. She won't get rid of them, can't kill'em yet they can't seem to become part of the pack and know their place so...they stay and they will die, sooner or later and will trigger the next crisis. Any chance you can let the coyotes have them?
Come on, @Kamp Krap ....that ain't winter! THIS is winter!! Located midway between Cleveland and Erie, PA, on the shore of Lake Erie. Got to love those lake effect storms, that come along before the lake is frozen!
