Always been a glock fan myself, owned a few in 9mm and .40. I am looking for a dedicated carry gun both on the street and in the woods, which brings me to the 10mm. Saw one of the new M&Ps in 10mm and looked pretty nice. Little cheaper than the glock. Did not get a chance to hold it yet, gonna try to after work today. What say you?
If your looking for a All around carry piece in the 10 MM auto, it's hard to go wrong with the Glock Model 29, compact and light enough for daily carry, able to handle most defense loads with care ( don't try the hot stuff, they don't do well with it) there are SIG and S&W options, as well as the 1911's in both single stack and double, but the weight goes up along with size!
Well greed got the best of me i guess, they did not have any glocks in 10mm, did have the m&p. Its a little bigger than i was hoping for but ill give it a whirl.
Damn, I have a large frame Polymer 80 that I bought 5 years ago. Covid came along and I could not get the majority of parts to finish it. I wanted two slides and barrels. One in 10mm and the other in 45acp. Will have to dig it out and start planning again.
Is this the M&P 10mm you got @sasquatch91 ? I'm a Springfield fan, myself...but that M&P is damn fine. Granted, I only stick with 9mm and .45 and would never use 10mm but I can still appreciate it.
Yea minus the compensator on the front. I figure i can use light loads for urban carry, heavy loads in the woods. Im hoping to get up to montana in the next year or so, be a great carry in the woods.
I've shot at few different 10mm pistols. Recoil is .357 mag-ish. The biggest gun you can carry comfortably should be the one you buy. Not knocking your choice, but I'd be a .357 Sig man if I needed to shoot through a bunch of shit blowing holes in bad guys and cause a mass exodus in some foreign bazaar.... that fucker is loud. 10mm for bear and the random velociraptor or Sabre tooth tiger. Recoil is worse, muzzle blast is similar. Energy sounds stronger on my steel targets. The Colt Delta Elite 10mm was my favorite among that, a Sig and I could have sworn a Glock. YMMV, of course.
10 MM Auto 1911 compact double stack, 12 rounds of FULL nukeum power in a small package, your not going to get much better then this, and thankfully, Rock Island has ya covered! Or, you can rock the very same pistol as I do, and be almost as cool as me! LOL Full size double stack 1911 in 10 mm auto, runs full zoot loads with ease, it DONT get no better then this, Period!
only thing that concerns me with the 10 mm is OVER PENETRATION and harming someone behind... they do have some power
Depends on 1) the specific load and barrel length. 2) you can get ammo power levels from .40 Short & Weak, to full zoot Nukeum loads and everything in between. so do some homework to find what works and what your gun shoots the best. I have found the 180 gr .40 S&W load from Remington using their Golden Saber bullets to be about the best load there is for absolute stopping power, without over penetration, however, when hand loading those same bullets to full 10 mm power levels, they did even better, the energy dump is incredible, without over penetration, that says something! Not many rounds actually do over penetrate, even the crappy PPU 180 gr hollow points will not pass through on average, while the SIG 180 gr. hollow points came the closest. the Armscor stuff did pretty slick as well, again, without over penetration. When you start pushing the 200 grain bullets, thats where things get sporty, especially the hard cast, or Laser Cast stuff, I would be careful if using those unless you have tested them personally and seen what your combo does with them. The 220 Gr loads I would not use for anti personal, they are made to drive DEEP, and that will certainly lead to over penetration on most human sized targets, enen Grizzly Man Bear guys like me! LOL In the past, most ammo manufactures would develop their ammo for one range of calibers, say 9 mm and .45 acp, and then offer those bullets in loads for all the calibers they wanted, that was always a gamble for those of us NOT shooting those two calibers, you never knew what you were going to get until you tested or had to use it for real, not the best time to find out! After the manufactures got in a bunch of trouble, they started loading to higher standards and if offering more calibers in that load, they had to then test that load to prove it safe, or risk a serious court case! Ammo these days is usually pretty damn good, but I would test to make sure it's going to do what you need in the gun your going to carry!
