Like some, I am no rookie to forums. Be them motorcycle, Jeep, Dodge Ram, Homesteading, etc., some of those I have over 5k posts over the last 15+ years. In a quick decision, I joined a couple of Survival Forums, but later found that the core of those weren't like minded as me. So before joining SurvivalMonkey, I read a lot of posts from many of the most veteran members here and I believe I have found what I am looking for. Living in the heart of rural America, I am very concerned with the direction of our country and we aren't the Republic we once were. I believe our financial institutions are at high risk and it doesn't help that our national debt is unredeemable now. Our military is the weakest it has been in 50 years and our enemies are stronger than ever. Artificial Intelligence is unproven whether friend or foe. The Ponzi Scheme they call the Stock Market is untenable ..... and the list goes on. To put it quickly, the great US of A that we grew up with is no longer, and is highly, highly at-risk. As much as I want President Trump to turn it all around, I think there are deeper, malevolent powers that won't allow it. (#RemeberWhatHappenedToKennedy) I firmly believe people need to be prepared for the worst. It is important to live a wise life today, but also be ready for what we could find ourselves in ..... if SHTF. in the future. Whatever that may be..... I started my path of preparation back when Hillary and Donald were tangling for the Presidency. At the time, I was concerned about the direction either would take the country. These days I call myself a very conservative Libertarian. I want the Gubberment involved in as little of my life as possible, yet I am a HUGE fan of Law and Order and Peace through Strength and a Free Market Economy. I am a fan of privacy and I believe it is incredibly important to be a "Gray Man". Even my children (grown with their own kids) have little understanding of my preparations. I live very rural and just this past fall, finally completed my dwelling, where I am living full time, which I previously called my BOL. The acreage/property me and my neighbors have, keeps us nicely separated, but I am blessed to have a whole valley of like-minded folks. We live squarely in that part of America that is deep RED. I hope to continue learning more as I read and offer some of my own knowledge. Cheers! MtnRider ..........

Aloha and welcome from Hawaii! I also tried a few other forums before deciding that this is the best one (and the only one I like). Everyone here has been so knowledgeable and kind. Glad you found us!
