I'd have to say that I've never had any issues like that when hand loading, but I can see it being possible with lower calibers. I know for the 7mm Rem Mag it won't make a difference at all, at least not noticeably. And it will probably have to do more with the type of powder and burn rate than the 1 gr. variation, but to each their own. I'm fairly certain that the average competitive shooter will disagree because those types of people tend to be superstitious about accuracy, to the point of it being ridiculous and I tend to never try to have conversations with them because they are literal idiots. I remember years ago I'd post videos to YouTube and the major feedback was always from the "elite" club of competitive shooters who thought they knew every little fact. It's kind of sad, really. I see what you are saying about reloading and grouping, and I guess if you are using somebody else's loads, a good amount of caution should be used, but I would rather trust my own instead. I also have never tried reloading .22, mostly because it was so plentiful and affordable. I think on this level of ammunition a single grain of powder makes a much bigger difference.
Yes I laugh at them too. Half of them are annealing their brass wrong, introducing more variability. A third of a grain makes a difference. With leverevolution, probably the most temperature sensitive power currently available my cold weather 30-30 rounds are loaded with a third grain more.
Limit 2 bricks per customer and free shipping I think. More accurate than the old Remington subsonic at least for me
Found my k frame 22lr likes the hotter shit. The "hotter shit" being 40gr in the 1,400fps range and 32-36gr in the 1,500 to 1,600fps range. Such as cci velocitor, minimag, agulia super extra. I water jug tested cci stinger, yeah it would hurt, mushroomed out real nice. Found the suppressed bolt action 22lr would shoot one hole 10 shot groups at 25yd with new Remington subsonic, Winchester 333pack 36gr at 1,280fps and really cheap federal 325pack 40gr at 1,200fps "am22" load. The only 22lr ammo I found that shot bad in everything; long guns, wheel guns was cci quiet-22. I'll sell what little I have and not buy more. I had one leave the barrel I could watch it go down range and hit about 2 inches low, that one was almost a squib.
Did some 20ga testing, 2.75 inch number 3 buckshot. Found the cheap Remington ones were the best. I figured they would be the worst. The Remingtons put more holes in a paper plate and the groups appeared to be tighter. The most expensive federals were the worse. Now I can buy my fill of Remingtons from Walmart.
Something about stacking shot SxS makes it fly a lot straighter than 3x3 stacks. In 12ga that's going to be your 000 buck. In 20ga I think #1 buck will stack SxS, typical 20ga loads with number 3 buck stack 3x3. Check out the 000 pattern near the end.
I'm a fan of staying proficient, but I am shooting less and less and less.... as I don't want to run through my vast amount of ammo.... I am highly trained and it only takes about 20 rounds for me to relocate and find my center. I don't go to the range any more and pour though a few hundred rounds. #SavingMyAmmo.......
VTjr and myself have been hitting the range about weekly for nearly a year now. What have I learned? My firearms are more accurate than I am. VTjr shoots better than I. We've run through old stock and have hit Reman ammo purchased during of reign of Obama44. That stuff is horrible. Finally gotten through 1k rounds of 9mm (115 and 124gr). Wildly inaccurate and dirty. At first I thought it was me jerking the trigger, I rested the gun, nope. VTjr shot it and said, nope, that shit is all mine to shoot. Dirty, sparky, hit high, low and on two occasions click bang. All my guns like Gold Dots (SD) and Lawman (Range) VTjr's likes the same but loves 124 gr better than 115. And, I will not be buying reman in the future, just not worth the cost savings.
I guess it depends on the maker of the reman ammo. I've shot "factory" new ammo and "factory" reman ammo and noticed no difference. I also load my own, and generally don't have any issues. My family gets to the indoor range usually once a month, and I'll occasionally go out back at lunch time and plink a hundred rounds or so, usually testing my reloads or just needing to vent a little.
We had a hard time finding ammo during the Reign of Obama44 in this AO. I wound up finding Ammo Inc and Freedom Munitions. AI was just bad Hot rounds, slow rounds and huge ass fireballs in 9mm. Older freedom munitions stuff I had in stock was basically decent MV 1080-1180fps. But the newer stuff was 935 - 1115 and powder was flying sparks all over the place and had 2 hangfire/slow to ignite out of 500 rounds. I'm sticking to factory new for storage now. Again, the reman was from 2008 through 2017 but stored cool and dry but a decade old. My remaining ammo is 2018 or newer and all factory new. And my problem was only with the 9mm stuff. Other calibers .. not an issue. Really glad to be through those 2 500rd cases.
If you haven't experienced it yet. Go to a public range. You get the full gamut of folks out there. Yes, sometimes it's terrifying to watch the lack of gun control and understanding of range rules. But those are going to be the folks standing next to you when the next uprising takes place. My favorite past-time is to watch them folks with pistols with optics on them searching for the little dot and still missing the target at 5 yards. Holy shit. I can send a full mag of hardball into a paper plate by the time the acquire their sights in some cases. There are some really good shooters on the line each week but the vast majority would hit someone elses target at 25 yards, especially when they try to shoot fast. The ceiling seems to be a popular target along with the cement floor. And most of the firearms on the line are tacticooled out and they have no money left for ammo. And there is always some joker with 5.56 AR pistol with a 7 inch barrel concussing us all.
@VisuTrac , I worked at a range for about 5 years. Yeah, the number of people that have no clue how to handle a gun is scarry. I denied several sales when people filled out the 4473 incorrectly and begged me to let them re-do it. No clue if any of them were the feds testing us, but I believe they were just that stupid to not understand the question. Like the question "Are you a fugitive from justice?". Yup, 3 different people checked "Yes". All 3 said they didn't know what 'fugitive' meant. My response was, so why did you check yes instead of asking what it meant? Yeah, some people just don't have enough working brain cells to own a firearm.
Ran across a couple the other day, I think some oldies? Smith Pre 27 K-Frame 1956/57 and a Colt single action army 38 special Serial starts at 141xxx This puts it in the 1891 range, I'm wondering if this is a re-barreled 38 Colt?
