Garfield (weiner-dog) goes berserk when I mention frogs or lizards. He will run to the gazebo and bark until I come outside to lift him up to where he can reach the awning (where the tree-frogs and lizards hide). Sometimes I will reach up and pretend to catch a lizard and bring it into the house where I release (the invisible lizard) and he goes into full-blown killer mode, searching every place that a lizard might have escaped to. Jimmie ( my wife) is afraid of lizards and tree-frogs so when I release one of the invisible ones, she screams and runs around the room too. George (my retreiver) just laughs; she knows that invisible lizards and frogs do not exist, not like invisible balls or sticks, anyway.
Maggie is terrified of guns. She doesn't mind them when I shoot, just when I point one at the sky. She has a cage in our bedroom (jail, for when she shakes the weiner-dog by his head) that she feels is her "safe room". I can point my finger at the sky like I am holding an invisible pistol and Maggie heads right to jail. George laughs. Sometimes George just does her regular doggie laugh but most of the time, she rolls on her back and growls like a mad-dog and then laughs some more.
My puppies love me and I am constantly amused by them; I don't think they even care that they are essentially an emergency food source.

Reminds me of Apollo - the Wonder Dog. When he hears the little scratches from my resident mice, he runs furiously around the house barking in his best Doberman woof. He sounds like a real killer dog. He'll jump up from a sound sleep to scare those little critters off. I can only hope he would do the same for an intruder with two legs!

I tell my wife all the time that I think of her Pomeranian as a 13lb emergency roast! Of course my 25lb Cocker Spaniel is vital to our continued survival and thus is not expendable.

When our Congo African Grey parrot Gracie sees our English Bulldog Bella, she whistles to her and calls her. Then Bella runs over to the cage and Gracie tells her "down Bella, down Bella." All of course in my voice.

Gracie now lives on the porch, as we got tired of running to the phone when it rang, but of course nobody was calling, then of course Gracie laughs. Oh, and she could perfectly imitate anyone's ring tone. Nobody is spared.

We live in a fairly remote area and are gone a lot so our dogs are our first line of defense. To come up to my house you have to come through the gate with the "Keep Out" and "Beware of Dog" signs. Then you come up to the main house and see another "Beware of Dog" sign. And have a big black lab and a Doberman waiting behind the fence.

Should be enough to discourage most folks from going any farther. That was until the wife decided that the dogs needed some new toys. She bought them stuffed animals. A pink rabbit for Roxanne the dobie and a duck for Bo the lab. Now when you drive up to my house this is what you are greeted with.

    A real fear inspiring sight.

LMAO, Dose cut down on the intimidation factor a bit but might not wanna be the guy that tried to take away the duckie or bunnie. Pretty babies though.

I wish I could convey all I have been thru with my pet in the past 16 days....and the fact that I will essentially work for free for the next month to pay off the Vet bill...

Right now, my new mission , is to work with Animal Control on people who let their animals roam loose, and never see the inside of a Vet's office...

The lady across the street has a red nose pit...who runs loose. Layla is very friendly, but I knew it was going to be trouble...

She went in to heat 3 wks ago, and the males started showing up....A half pit, and half rotty, TORE my gate on my back yard, and came IN my yard, AND house..and attacked my cat....

He is now at the Vets again, since last Thurs....after this last surgery. He has 2 drains in his belly.....A catheter in his shaved right front leg....Belly is shaved and was full of infection ....His left rear haunch is shaved and had tendon torn and showing....and he was about to die...

I know, I chose the surgery...But he is my buddy, and my friend....He thinks he's a dog, for God's sake..! LOL...

Animal Control has STILL not gotten back with me, since the 29th of last month....(um, one of the dogs that attacked him met with an unfortunate accident...he ran in to a bullet. Seems he chose to keep coming back in to my yard and the neighbors, and he has a 16 month old toddler and no fenced yard.....They have NO idea the plans I have for when he comes home this week....I have pictures of the torn gate, the torn screen on my back door...The cat's injuries, the dogs running loose in the street..and the Newspaper, and the local TV stations are about to get a story...I am also sending a copy of the VET bill...and a few carefully chosen words...

It's been a freaking emotional roller coaster.... I have to watch him for the next 4 weeks for him to be able to improve and heal....and me ,with MRSA right now....

This ought to get interesting...I'll let y'all know.

NOW we have a pregnant pit running loose....Just what we need.

It amazes me how close we get to our pets...Even the dog misses him. I have a cute metal painted cat that sits in the hallway...and night before last, the dog drug it in front of my bedroom door, and left it there...When I got up, she was laying next to it , right in front of my door....LOLOL!

My cat's name is "Poof" ...(don't ask..) and on another board I belong to...they have started "Poofapalooza" to raise money to help defray his medical expenses, and it has become hilarious....but I am so grateful for the help...It couldn't have happened at a worse time...

Just wanted to let y'all know what is going on...and figured this thread was the best place to put it...

Wait until the local authorities deal with my wrath...and they will.

DidI mention there's an elementary school about a block and a half down the street from me?? Is that what it's going to take? One of these dogs attacking a child?? I am fed up with these people, I tell ya....

Have a great one y'all...(unless you've made other plans... ;)

It will always amaze me that so many people negect their pets in the ways that they do. If you cannot properly care for them, then why have them? It does not make any sense, nobody is forcing anyone to take responsibilty for domesticated animals, and yet we have the largest population of strays world wide.

When you release the info to the press, send us a link if they raise a stink.

This works well on neighbor hood pets that become dangerous. I think that you need one more than I.

The "Judge" should handle a few of the more obstinent and aggressive neighborhood canines, and no need for the tax stamp. Besides, the noise will draw the necessary followup gumball machines, so you don't have to load the carcass out for a trip to friendly neighborhood pig farm.
