I have a old 10/22 but I'm looking at buying a suppressor so I would like a threaded barrel because why not!? So an easy pick I thought a threaded barrel 10/22 and then I saw a thread barrel 10/22. Yet for a little more I can get the take down 10/22? My question is how less accurate is the take down then the regular 10/22? Is it something that is noticeable different? My old 10/22 is my go to "You think you can hit that rifle." I guess I should also ask about suppressed one work better then the other? I'm got to start with a Multi-Caliber from 22-460 yet I'm going to be interested in getting a dedicated suppressor or suppressor barrel in a few months.
i put a greendot on my 1022 breakdown last year. pretty sure left is suppressed and right is not. 30' subsonic ammo, timny trigger, sdn6 can. have you seen 10/22 integral suppressed barrels? the sdn6 can is 30 cal and has 7 host guns, 556 ar, 300 blk, 308, 22 pistols and rifles can all use same can. or integral 1 gun only. my takedown is as accurate as my gucci 10/22. ,,,,,, for the lurkers.
Interesting I can't say that I would be upset with the left or the right targets if I was shooting. I like the take down 10/22 a lot it is so compact and easy to carry. I'm a Marine and love my iron sights have they improved them since the early 2000? I bought Tech sights for my old one when it became a tack driver. Does the take down allow for you to mount a rear sight on the receiver or only barrel?
10/22 Takedown® Threaded Barrel - Blued 10/22 Takedown® Threaded Barrel - Stainless 10/22® Threaded Fluted Bull Barrel - Stainless 10/22® Threaded Barrel - Stainless Here cowboy.
Thank you I will check them out! Also I'm a Marine I was fired from a law enforcement job for not looking like a Cowboy!
I love my take down, just as accurate as a regular 10/22. I have heard if you mount a scope or sight on the receiver it can lead to inaccuracies, I never found that to be true. Let's keep in mind, most guns are more accurate than I am and I'm no sniper when it comes to shooting. I did just swap out the stock to the Magpul Backpacker stock and the Magpul optic mount. This moves the optic mount to the barrel. Amazon.com Amazon.com What I like is that with the Magpul stock the barrel locks into the stock and the butt has an area for 3 of the 10 round magazines. I also found I can keep a couple of small tools in the stock. The backpacker stock works with the standard tapered barrel and a bull barrel.
@kckndrgn Is that X22 stock larger than the standard stock. My 10/22 stock has never been comfortable for me, seems too small, like made for a child. I have been considering replacing it.
There is almost no difference in the length of the stocks. There are some differences in the stock, but not much.
of course if you REALLY want to suppress it, you can replace the barrel part of the take-down with a factory integrated suppressed barrel...
In a little that's my idea. I'm looking at buys a multi caliber suppressor first but I'm wanting to buy to buy a suppressed barrel for the 10/22.
My 10/22 is my "if I could only have one gun" gun. Early 80's manufacture with a metal trigger guard, skeleton folder, threaded 16" barrel, stock internals. It loves Remington subsonic ammo better than anything. My take down with the fancy backpack that I bought when they came out has never been as accurate but does best with CCi Stingers. Both shoot 10 rounds into a 2" circle at 50 yards but 'ol trusty has most of the shots touching. BUT, I have a few ARs that are the same, some just shoot better than others even with identical builds. Same with barrels, I have a few that should be thrown in the trash but can't bring myself to do it because of what they cost. I put a friends can on 'ol trusty once and it shot low right with a looser group, while his shot nearly the same with or without the can. There are so many variables with barrels and bullets and harmonics and suppressors.
mine likes win subsonic and gemtec, groups about the same. but .12 ea so not cheap. took me a while to install a sling stud on this,,, but i did. magpul optic mount, green holosun. should i start a 10/22 fav. thread?
10/22 takedown? Don't bother with the takedown version unless you have to have one that comes apart like that for some reason.
Curious, why? I have a standard synthetic stock 10/22 and a 10/22 TD, both shoot about the same. I do tend to keep my TD in my go bag, and especially with me when I take long trips. It would be great if I had a suppressor for it, but that's just not in the cards at the moment.
I think this comes from putting a standard rifle scope on a 22LR rifle. They may be made by the same company to the same quality, but they are not the same. The difference is parallax, and a rifle parallax on a rimfire rifle or vice versa will affect accuracy at normal shooting distances. A regular scope will have it's parallax set to 120 yards. This messes up accuracy since the reticle will appear to move around if you move your eye position even if the rifle is fixed in position, unless you are shooting at or beyond 100 yards. A rimfire/airgun scope will be set to 50 or 60 yards, the reticle will stay on target even if your eye position changes a bit at rimfire distances. A lot of precision scopes can set parallax down to the entire range of rimfire scopes, but these are intended for precision shooting where weight is a bonus. You would be amazed at how many think a rimfire scope is just a cheap scope and don't know about or understand how parallax works.
I had to spend more on a barrel scope mount and use a red dot as the scope I had wouldn't work being mounted so far forward. I just don't need the TD. The scope mounted on the receiver wouldn't hold a zero because of the TD setup.
No not worth the job really! Sheriff did not like me because the people in the town liked me and trusted me and told me about more things that were going on then they would him. I'm so happy to be out of law enforcement! It's a thankless job and no matter what you do is wrong! If your a good officer they find a way to fire you or make you leave the department but your a corrupt officer here are some Sgt bars and a raise. When you start to see law enforcement department shift to it's more important how a police officer scores on a written test or that they need a degree that's when you have law enforcement uppers chosing education over people skills! Our law enforcement wants people to have book smarts or then people skills! I learned as a rookie "It's better to talk them into handcuffs then fight them." Words from my first FTO who was Nam area. Law enforcement department care more about WHAT race or sex there officer are then the officer being able to defend themselves from being attacked. Law enforcement much rather have an officer who can BS a suspect making them fight then the officer who will flat out lie to get them into handcuffs! Don't get me started on the whole 9mm thing and law enforcement going to it. They did not pick the best round the picked the cheapest! They also picked around that allowed more people to qualify faster! That's scare law enforcement feel firearms qualifications are just a check in the box not a skill that needs to be practiced! Three combat tours in Iraq was apart of the invading unit my machine gun team took out the Iraqi outpost. We took over Baghdad in a 16 hour firefight, Fallujah in 2004 and Ramadi 2005. I did NOTHING but combat tours during my Four years in my beloved Marines.
